I feel they can leave the small amount of pop hits to WZOK, it really just doesn't fit the format. At the launch, the rotation was a urban mainstream, but as they added music theres more pop/crossover on the station now, something that I feel really isnt necessary but, so be it.
it is being branded as CHR/Rhy with Hits & Hip Hop from the beginning but after hearing alot of hip hop and r&b and then they throw in a pop track out the blue its like UM ok, what was the point of that??? Its just a lil strange. but "research" says it works, and when is research ever "wrong!"
Overall, Rockford mkt #149, isnt used to a major-market sounding station and i think its refreshing for them. The production of course is major-market sounding, as well as the talent of course, although there is just one live airshift now.
Its also exciting because Crawford has the $$$ for promotions, events and concerts unlike any previous station(s), something the market isn't used to either.
Now all Crawford needs is a Gospel and UAC (locally-programmed UAC, not a simlucast)
