and I'll think you'll find. . .

Many people upset that the Yankees are no longer in 105.3-FM Killington/Rutland. Instead they will are on 94-5 The Drive-Rutland. . .a Class-A signal with not nearly enough strength to reach the entire market. There are a few of us here that have decided to revolt against Red Sox (communist) Nation.

My friend I think you should think of another word other than communist. Remember that the true goal of the communist is for all to comform and everybody works for the state. Kind of like having to cut your hair and shave your face because the leader says so ---- hmmmmmmm --- now who does that sound like. As far as hearing your Yankees it looks like MLB.com or XM for you my little bald friend.

If they were a money making venture for the station, they'd still be on. Maybe not as many people are as upset as you think. ;)

in Rutland, yes maybe. . .but not on the "other side" of the Green Mountains in the rest of the market.

By then, you're in Sox territory, right? Why should a terrestrial Yankees broadcast reach that area?

Because the next best thing to rooting for the Sox is rooting AGAINST the Yankees!

I've always wondered how a station carrying the Yankees would do in Boston. Especially on nights the Sox aren't playing.

I can no longer get worked up over the whole Boston-New York thing.

Considering the past few years, it just feels old.

Agreed 100%. It's like throwing dirt onto a pile of dirt.

Lets see...they trashed WEBK's unique AAA format with baseball for a few years, but now it is inappropriate to
program it for the red necks that actually might enjoy it, that listen to that frequency now????

It's a business and the business has just 2 factors to consider.

1. Listener and potential listener appeal.
2. Most importantly, advertiser appeal.

If you can't get the advertisers/listeners excited, it ain't gonna happen.

As a radio geek and a HUGE baseball fan (Red Sox), I can tell you that I always look and listen for Yankee scores, but I wouldn't seek out their games on the radio. You need a strong fanbase, not a strong anti-fanbase!!

Also, with a 162 game season, there are not too many times when they are not playing at the same time.

I'm a Sox fan, but I admit that I'd flip to The Peak every once in a while to see how the Yanks were doing. I don't actually think it's a bad thing to have the Yanks on the air in New England. There are so many transplants in NNE...why not air the games?

Plus, all you really need to do is find a couple dozen Yank fans that are clients, and then viola, instant cash.

I just did a look up for the Yankees stations. Did you know there stations in Florida, Arkansas, Nevada, and Penn carry the Yanks? Crazy huh?

Now if only someone would put the Buffalo Bills on the radio up here.....now that's something I'd listen to.........as my team'd lose over and over and over again.....................sigh....my team stinks.

12 in a row...

Do you honestly believe that listeners get excited when an on-air personality mentions that he (or she) had dinner at a specific restaurant or new carpeting installed in their basement by [insert name of company here]! A few might become curious enough to call the radio station or show host for a contact name or telephone number, but I'm willing to bet the majority of the listening audience aren't interested one way or the other! ::)

Advertisers don't expect nor care if a listener gets excited about a popular personality,
Whether it be radio, tV, sports or entertainment, they are simply looking for product "top of mind" awareness.

Who cares if Rachel Ray drinks Dunkin Donuts or Howie Carr shops at Lumber Liquidators.
They DO care that you remember the product.

Obviously it has worked in the past and continues to work.
