And now for something completely different...

Here's an aircheck of Hot 79Q circa 1984-85.

Yes, there was a 93Q, but since you couldn't simulcast 100%, the AM did its own thing outside of morning drive.

That's one hot sounding AM...

I remember that aircheck, sounded very Urban Leaning. During the AM stereo craze. KSAQ and KSJL did the same thing briefly before turning into Super Q 96/76.

When did Hot 79Q flip back to simulcasting 93Q as 93Q?

I am wondering if Blake did those Suit Mart ad's for KHYS Y-98.5 back in 1992?

Or did I also hear him on KMJQ in the early 90's?

By the early 90's, Blake was in San Francisco. He spent a lot of time at KKSF, and tracked afternoons at NAC KYOT Phoenix for us in 1993 before out of market voice tracking was a thing and that station was still locally owned. We sent him a DAT machine, a RE-20, and faxed him three days of logs at a time and he'd overnight the tapes back to us. Cool guy.

I remember tuning to Hot 79Q once around that time to check out what they were doing, i normally listened to the FM. I did notice a bit more R&B. I think this was a period where the only the morning zoo was simulcast on the AM. That went on for a couple of years
