And so it begins....

Actually, it started last year with KKOL in Seattle. KDOW in San Fransisco is another. There are others planned. By the way, I named it Business Eleven-Ten. It may be temporary as to come in line with the other Salem business format properties.

Are KKOL and KDOW going to or already carrying Biz Radio content? I like the simple name of Business 1110. Nothing fancy, just get right down to it. Chuck, I wanted to mention that I was listening to the station yesterday and noticed there were drop outs of the audio periodically. Sounded like the bird was losing you for a split second and then it kicked right back on. It was happening about every 30 seconds and was occuring during the morning Bloomberg programming.

Locally, the station sounds a lot more like it should. Very smooth and professional. It had gotten to the point where you'd hear a Biz host talking to a caller but never hearing the caller on the air. Sounds rather odd on a radio when you only have one side of the conversation. There were all types of technical issues that were going over the air those last couple of weeks. You can certainly see the difference now with you at the helm.

KKOL and KDOW are not carrying Biz Radio. Those were already established before the changes in Houston. The irritating drop out you hear is from an Ike damaged satellite dish. It also affects programming on KNTH. The main dish on the roof was drug across to the edge of the building during the storm. I heard it when I was here that morning when Ike roared through. (That metal sound I heard was the dish and AC roof units being moved) Fortunately for the dish it got caught on a steel cable which prevented it from blowing off the roof. Unfortunately, the mount was severely damaged. Two weeks ago, we finally received the new mounts. However, we had to stop work on it to accommodate the technical operation of KTEK studios here. (By the way, most of the programming originates from here.)

The next day, we discovered that building diagonally positioned from us, lost its entire upper floor which housed it's AC units and other building supplies. It was determined that it was a small tornado which did the damage. We also discovered that the roof on the Wells Fargo Tower where we are, had damage on the west side of the roof. The roof had been lifted up around 6 or 7 inches, thus letting in the wind from the storm. I went out in the hall and the wind was whipping the plants around inside. That wild ride that night was costly for us.

The repercussion is using a damaged satellite dish. When the wind blows above 15 mph, it affects it's performance. Soon, soon, this will be rectified.
