And the award for the most announcing traffic announcer in Atlanta goes to....

I think Wendy on Star94 does a good job with traffic.

So does Mark Arum. And call me crazy, but it's not an 'SB traffic report without Captain Herb, even though he's a little hard to decipher and tends to focus on the south side of Atlanta...but then a lot of stuff hits the fan down there, so I guess it makes sense.

Keith and the Captain deserve the highest regards but come on, even when I wasn't getting in trouble, three A.I.R., (take 'em for what they're worth) awards and 6 stations at a time including Crash D.
Never posted before but thought I would on this one. Just having fun radio-info people, say hi to Steamhouse Lounge for me, until it's demolished.

Keith Kalland is the nicest person to ever work in this market and is greatly missed. His death really hurt WGST. Captain Herb does an amazing job and Mark Arum is extremely underrated. Mark does a fantastic job in traffic, hosting his own show and filling in for Scott Slade and Chris Krok.

I miss Margo Johnson on FOX 5.

Don't forget Sunny Hurst on 1230 AM WFOM.

Keith was a treasure. He is missed.

Sonny Hurst= Nancy Plum (WSB)? What do you think...

I also have to say the Calandra Corder seriously needs to work on her pronunciation. It's not Pleasant-dell Rd, it's Pleasant DALE Rd. That's just one of many mistakes. I'm surprised 750 would allow that.

I wouldn't mind Capt. Herb so bad if I could actually understand what he was saying. lol. "HJWKERNNDKJAFJKEDENNKKF EASTSIDE PERIMETER HIHWIAHGWGSIUKLWEMSGFBWPE TWO CAR WRECK SNIIHRWBNWISFFOSHYVIEUAKJMSNBV I-85 HNWURHKJWRNIPFNVH" is all I usually get out of it. I agree with an earlier poster about Paula Phillips. Having worked with her in the past....she's great! She can ad-lib with the best of them, she's understandable, and she knows Atlanta roads.

Oh, and rickyradio...Margot Johnson is on WGST doing traffic during McConnel and Rush now.

You mean other stations do traffic besides WSB? ;D

Every time I'd visit Atlanta from Birmingham, I seemed to only ever hear reports on WSB. So that was all I knew to tune into when traffic was hairy (which in ATL is from what? 4am-midnight most days?) It was like they were (and still are) a traffic station with some talk thrown in.

that's not really the case....hannity's BOH break is 5 minutes. that's much longer than most syndicated shows which only have 3 min. BOH breaks.

As long as Georgia - Navigator keeps the cameras running, Crash could do it from Beantown and be as accurate as anybody we got right now. It would be beer money, anyways.

Agreed. Keith was a good guy. His vocabulary antics were always a source of fun. His banter with Tom Hughes was tremendous. I used to see him at lunch now and then when I worked in Technology Park. He told me some funny stories about Clark during his WGST days.

Capt. Herb is a good guy also, and his team helps me out when my XM-Traffic/Garmin GPS combo isn’t up to speed.

But the audio quality from Keith always sounded better to me. Maybe it was a better noise-reduction/compression/EQ/mic setup. Maybe it was a better RF link (Fox 5?) back to the station.

BTW - I'm just a simple Electrical Engineer. But "most announcing traffic announcer" has me baffled too.

Maybe he meant the traffic announcer who announces the most? :D

A comment on the first page about Art "Mad Man" sounding like Greaseman had me wondering if his traffic reports go, "it's stop and go slow and go on the 75-85 connector, waddle-daddle-doo, and it's heavy on Cheshire Bridge, snarlin's goin' on... Bone dry, bone dry! 285 eastbound from 75 to Northside is all hobble-doo-gee..."

It would be the most cryptic traffic reports on the radio.

Well, it sounded funny in my head. :)

Yeah, I think Art could pull that off pretty well!

Sgt. Fury is still delivering massive amounts of humor on the WMET morning drive.
