Baldwin Gets Wired At WRDW/Philly
VISIONARY ENTERTAINMENT Top 40-Rhythm KDDB (102.7 DA BOMB)/HONOLULU PD/morning man "KID LEO" BALDWIN is making the big jump to PHILADELPHIA to take over as PD/morning man at BEASLEY Top 40-Rhythm WRDW (WIRED 96.5), replacing CHUCK TISA, according to the HONOLULU STAR-BULLETIN's JASON GENEGABUS. BALDWIN's sidekick PAUL OGATA is also exiting DA BOMB to move to the mainland to pursue his stand-up comedy career.

So what happens to the morning show that didnt start long ago ?

Well at least this latest news puts an end to any dreams of seeing 96.5 flipping to alternative.

Dude you've got serious problems...and yes Philly will STILL not have a place for new rock music. Imagine, radio without new rock music. Wait, oh yeah... I live in Philly. Sirius is way better than the crap station I'm sure you work for anyway. Enjoy your bubblegum flash in the pan top 40 acts. Real musicians know that it's the rock that matters, not the $$. Maybe you are part of that hypocritical baby bommer generation that ruined radio in the first place, all in the name of the bottom line. Ask someone who doesn't work in radio, they will say it is lame. Long live Howard!!

Oh get over yourself with your fundamental goodness of music. People make music for two reasons to make money and get laid. *I* personally wont enjoy my bubblegum flash in the pan top 40 acts. Ya see I have XM and dont need to whine about not having alt rock stations I have enough of em. I don't work for WIRED but thanks for continuing the way off stereotyping of me that people on this board seem to have a thing for.

Just because I think its funny that idiots like you whine about not having a new rock station when YOU YOURSELF said that there are options out there, doesn't mean I have problems. It means I have a sense of humor. Yeah Long Live Howard and his ushering in of New Rock Artist. He's notorious for that.

Means absolutely nothing. Remember WWDB...they brought in a new morning man to replace Mr. Valentine and flipped to The "Point" shortly thereafter.

New staff doesn't necessarily mean that a flip won't occur. Especially on a station like this one that is basically a trainwreck.

I think he means the new PD being somewhat of an expert in the Rhythmic Top 40 field. Not so much him being the new morning man.

He's not the new morning man. All Access had it wrong. He's just the PD.

What kind of sense of humor takes joy in other people's pain?? Y100 sucked when they signed off anyway, because they were forced to play music that there fans didn't want to listen to. Their stream is much better, now that they have control over the content. That was the downfall of alternative stations, corporate forcing them to play msuic that wasn't by any means alternative. And yes, I have Sirius, and have plenty of alt stations to listen to as well. By the way, next time you see an old woman with a walker, you shoulsd kick her, because that would be funny for you, since you take joy in other's pain...

Actually, it'd be funnier if I took the walker. Then found somebody with an AFI hoodie on and yelled HAHA Y100 is dead. In fact I think I may go do that...

How many months ago did Y100 flip? That happened in late February, right? So that makes ten months. Why are people on BOTH SIDES of the issue still harping on it? It's done. It doesn't matter anymore. It can't be 1996 forever, as much as I want it to be that way. There's no room for alternative or indie on commercial radio. That's why I buy CD's and put them on my MP3 player.

Seriously, why does Y100 still matter? It shouldn't...Mix and Max don't matter anymore. Heck, I don't even see too many people complaining about WYSP. The old 'YSP doesn't seem to matter any more and it just flipped last month.
Edited by pianorox on 12/21/05 03:35 PM.

Maybe to afternoons..but I bet out the door..
They didn't hire a morning pd guy just to do a pd job..
I bet..
BAck to bartending for Big Mama's girlfriend..
Would they have the shortest morning gig in radio history or would that be Barsky?

Maybe the fact that people are still talking about it ten months later may actually mean that it was a good station...

Or it could be the five people that listened to Y100 are still camped out in their parents basement looking at internet porn and chatting on radio-info...(BLEEP), the movie's over.

The it really comes down too Rap ruling over the air radio and the rock ruling the internet. Rap is more commerical than rock.

Re: No, the mutants are now listening too...More Mullet Radio

No, those folks followed Preston and Steve to MMR...ever hear the people that call into that show? KENSINGTON IN THE HIZOUS! "Yoo, uze guyz rawk...yo, I was kissin my sistah the other day and my last toof fell out."

I guess that's the risk of taking so many calls - you get a better picture of who is actually listening...yikes. Preston always did call "that station down the dial More Mullet Radio". Now he gets to represent them.

Preston and Steve still steal the O&A bit of the "love you, hate you line". Take a listen to the "quality" of audience that participates in that one...wow. Play some ZZ Top man!

I always found that "modern" or "alternative" rock was thinking man's music.

Hm. I always considered classical to be more for the thinking man... but what do I know :)

Re: No, the mutants are now listening too...More Mullet Radio

Don't trash PnS they rock. They are now one of the highest rated morning shows in Philly. They have always been one of the best!
