And the new programming on 860 is...

..."Radio Vida Abundante" - Spanish-language Christian programming.

KASA must be scared that their share will drop from a 0.01 to 0.005.

I think it's a good move, we don't have nearly enough Spanish stations on the dial. What we really need are more hip-hop stations though. :)

Damn...the Nurse and I were hoping for Spanish-language Buddist programming...there's a niche waiting to be filled! Well at least the ol xmttr won't have to brush up on el idioma as it wasn't all that long ago 8~Sixty was Radio VIVA. Felicidades y buena suerte...lo necisita!

Spanish-language on 860 AM... It's back to the future! They need to bring back the ol' "KAH - EEE - EFFE - ENNE" shouted calls at the top o' the hour!

Anybody get an aircheck of the flip? ;D

Gee, I miss the KT'R promo loop already. ::)

Just out of curiousity, what happens to radio
for all the teams that were on 860? Aren't the
Mercury in the WNBA playoffs?

It appears that tomorrow (Thursday) there is a
PBP trifecta with 5, 6 and 7pm game times for
the Merc, the alleged NFL team and the D-backs.

The good thing is that Dollar Bill Bidwill won't get
his AM/FM simulcast...the bad thing is that Russ
will once again go back on his word to keep the
@#$% sports off of weekday daytime dayparts
on Snooze 92/3...uh...I forgot the call letters,
they don't seem to use them much anymore.
Oh well, guess I'll put down "KOOL-FM" in my
diary. ;)

What goes around, comes around. AM860 for decades was Phoenix's only Spanish station -- KIFN. One stick, daytime, off Central at the river bottom.

Anyone know where they'll be running hockey? Believe it or not, there's quite a listening audience in this town for radio orphan, hockey.

Wasn't Jimbo lunching on South Mountain all week?
Let's get it back on the big stick.

I think the Coyotes are still on KDUS. They've never been on 860 AFAIK. The Mercury, Rattlers, and ASU women's hoops need a new home, though.

Lumberyard 14~forty to the rescue! Sun Devilette hoops ran there last year. And more play by play with 52 watts at night would make KMVP's nightime signal seem like a blowtorch. The Nurse and I say bring it on!

I believe 860 still carried the Mercury game Thursday. I didn't tune in to check, but the promos running on 620 all day said you could tune in to 860 AM at x:xx to hear the play-by-play.

KMVP aired Phoenix Roadrunners playoff hockey games last season. The Roadrunner broadcasts were just on the internet for the most part last season. Dan Weiss does an excellent job with play-by-play.
