I am so glad somebody remembered "She's Not There" by The Road.
One of my faves is "Going Too Far" by The Fifth Order (Diamond; 1967). The band was from Upper Arlington, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. WMCA used to play this when I lived in NJ. Never charted nationally. Great 12-string.
Speaking of 12-strings, there was a killer stiff by The Byrds called "It Won't Be Wrong" that was the follow-up stiff to "Turn Turn Turn". Got to #63 on Billboard. Sounds like it ought to be a Tom Petty song.
I also loved all those Cancon stiffs that CHUM played. Like anything by Fludd. Great stuff. "What An Animal", "Get Up Get Out And Move On", "Cousin Mary". Ian Thomas "Come The Son", "Chains", "Painted Ladies".
I could do this all night. I got a million of 'em. You know who used to play The Flirtations a lot? Art Bell.
I play a lot of this stuff on Sunday nights (www.oldies1160.com 10p-1a ET).
