Would it not be more important to hire somebody that has some radio experience to revamp the stations? Make formatic changes, alter air staff (what there is of it), upgrade the facilities and equipment, do some marketing, hire a good promotion person, and establish a solid sales team with strong selling ethics! There are only a few zilllion other things that go along with this but that would be a start. The stations have the ability to win but have been so mismanagerd there has been a total loss of respect from the listeners and from what I hear the bulk of any staff they have left. Can the ownership really have their heads buried that far in the sand that they cannot see what needs to be done? I would assume that ownership wants a quick turn around and any broadcast professional will tell you that is not possible at this moment. I honestly feel the statiions have legs and they can be up and running but it takes more than just a fresh coat of pain and some wiild promises to bring the audience and the advertising community back to the table. What Majic needs is a broadcast professional with the authority and a budget to fix it. I would certaiinly that Don McCoy understands this but not sure the train guys do! Who is calling the shots there anyway?
