And the Winner in the Dance Category at the 2013 Grammys are...

Best Dance Recording
Skrillex Featuring Sirah, "Bangarang"

Best Dance/Electronica Album
Skrillex, "Bangarang"

Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical
Skrillex, "Promises (Skrillex & Nero Remix)" (Nero)

To win all three awards is a bit of a stretch. It helps to have a very recognizable name. For as long as I can remember, the Grammy dance winners tend to be the bigger known names for the most part.

Actually Levels was from 2011 (if you need proof, Flo Rida - Good Feeling came out in 2011 also). Its funny how everybody added it late and included on their 2012 year end countdowns.

It's not that I had an issue with Skrillex winning, this was quite predictable. But a turd like Bangarang? Did anybody even play this song? I tried it once at the club and had a mixed reaction.

I wouldnt call Bangarang a terd. Dubstep is loved by the younger crowd. It was one of the most requested songs. I understand that Levels came out in 2011 but it being on the ballot, I still think it was a better choice. Dont you worry child is now at the top of the food chain.

Not that Skrillex isn't deserving of this. I just think he's the only dance candidate that could easily associate with the "rock" brand when you really think about what's in the minds of NARAS.

This may sound elitist, and I'm not trying to be but I'm just looking at it for what it is, but I've always thought of dubstep as one that fits more with the "alternative" sound than a dance sound. That's, in part, why colleges throughout the country have played dubstep in that sense. That fits the youth rebellion. That's why they could easily recognize Skrillex although I've never heard this track.

I'm by no means shocked that he swept. It's what it is in terms of the politics.
