KT'R...even though KFYI beat the Men In Secret Underwear 12+, the BIG 6~twenty is back and will be even more formidable when on FM (see WTOP-FM, Washington). Strong book for the talk and sportstalk formats with over a 14 share. And yes, Nurse Jeff and I saw what Airhead America did with absolutely nothing but internet word of mouth promotion. Guess that crummy signal hit the right people this time! Congrats to the Chickboss for her #1 ranking, but the road is going to get a lot rougher in the coming months.

But what really gave KT'R their spring book bump?
They are still juggling around the N/T elements.

Could it have been a combo of the Suns post-season
run and the D-Backs? (D-Backs pre-Grimsley "outing"
of course.)

Yes and Yes. Plus they pulled the plug on Tony Snow and added Pat McBland to the mid-day mix. News content better. Production value significantly better. Content much better. In spite of how The Emmis Braintrust screwed up KT'R, they maintained a huge cume. Betcha some of those listeners aren't button pushing as much now! Nurse Jeff and I are surprised that KFYI STILL doesn't have an FM plan. It's inevitable!

When Laurie Cantillo was asked re a KFYI FM per KTAR's, she responded with a vague, "It's better to be innovative than re-active..." Of course, in hindsight, her head was already with Harpo...

The CCU suits don't want to hear it, but News and News/Talk operations are moving to where the audience is - FM. Nurse Jeff and I can understand why they don't want to cannibalize one of their own FMs, but the Men In Secret Underwear just shelled out $70+m and are gutting Power 92's revenue to protect the KT'R franchise. There will be a KFYI-FM..it's just a matter of time!

Beg To Differ Doc.....

Better look at Twin Cities and Pittsburgh CCU N/T FM's. Both on air about a year with great success. Just the beginning for CC's FM N/T initiative for ' 07. Phoenix will be the first head to head format battle.
