Double O Radio announced Wednesday they have sold their West Palm Beach stations to Powell Broadcasting out of Iowa. That leaves Double O with their two Columbia, SC properties. So how long before new owners take over 92.1 and 94.3 and change formats AGAIN?
The price was announced today for the Panama City deal. 950 thousand for FOUR FM's. Bet that kills comps.
The pressure I am sure is on. Almost 2 years on Soft AC on 92.1 and no improvement in audience. About a year on "Country Legends" on 94.3 and the same story. Time to take them out of the back pasture and put them out of their misery.
I have seen the rates they have on the street. $5-7 a holler on both stations. I do not see how they are even coming close to breaking even considering that their rent nut and power bill are probably twice what I run one station on a year!
There issue is that not many operators are interested in buying just 2-station groups - most want clusters of 3 or more. If CC, Cumulus, and Inner City (like they would buy) have 4 and that's the cap on FM, then rule those out. Who's left? Entercom? Apex? Cox?
