Sorry for a second post but it's a related but separate topic about the big station with big hits and sponsors with big pockets I heard a spot for some local oldies cover band playing a Valentines show at the Stadium Theater in Woonsocket.Yes I'm sure the audience that listens to a steady loop of Fleetwood Mac,Queen, and Eddie Money is going to make the trek to Woonsocket to hear a local band singing In The Still Of The Night and Cherish. Is the station sometimes portraying its format as what it used to be when it comes to advertising dollars? Why would they even accept these spots?Frankly given what the average local oldies cover band does they would have gotten better response on Lite Rock 105 or even Cat Country given the audience these two stations have compared to who is listening to B101 now.

I thought it was Coast that played a steady diet of Fleetwood Mac,Queen, & Eddie Money. Oh wait I'm confused. Well I hope any listeners who showed up enjoyed There's A Moon Out Tonight & Cara Mia. Granted there is no actual oldies station in Providence but I wonder how many sponsors just buy without realizing a station has changed.

I didn't realize they played oldies 7 hours a day. I check them out at times & it's good to hear some of what they play but I have to comment on the repetition. I don't know where they get their music or what their resources are, but repetition on an oldies station is understandable when you're playing Happy Together & Mustang Sally. When you're playing The Cleftones & Etta James you need a bigger library. Maybe it's a matter of what they have available or maybe it's just the scheduling, but I don't tune in that often & hear the same songs over & over so I can imagine how a more consistent listener might feel. Do you know where they get the music?
