AND WHILE WE'RE ON THE SUBJECT, WHEN WILL CTV TAKE OVER THE NHL CONTRACT?

Okay, while we're on the subject, when do you think CTV will take over from CBC English network's coverage of the NHL?

Fact 1: CTV already spent too much money on the Olympics. (they DID outbid CBC for the Winter 2010 Olympics, yes.)
so, it may be a while before they have the right money to outbid for hockey rights.

Fact 2: Still an excellent point, since CTV owns TSN and TSN 2, so there's plenty of room for speculation, regardless of wether they have deep pockets or not.

Fact 3: Rogers (owner of Sportsnet) is the one making an effort to try and take over Toronto Maple Leaf sports and entertainment.

So if it came down to CTV & Rogers, Rogers would take all the Toronto Maple Leaf games and air the 82 of them on Leafs TV in Ontario(with CBC, CTV or Canwest-Global airing them in the rest of Canada). Hmm...well, at least Canadiens fans outside Quebec have cable and satellite options with RDS, but any of the Leafs fans living outside Ontario would be out of luck.

Um, no. They would most likely stay strictly on Leafs tv or a Sportsnet station and (outside Toronto) become available only through a sports pack of some sort.

Sort of like how it currently is with the Ottawa Senators.
If you live in Toronto and wish to watch the (Ottawa) games that are not vs. the Leafs, you can only watch them with a sports pack purchase.
