Anderson Cooper To Host New Daytime Talk Show Starting Fall 2011

The CNN personality will host a new daytime talk show produced by Telepictures and Warner Bros. (the same folks who brought you Rosie O'Donnell and Jenny Jones) starting next year.

However, this does not mean it will be the end of "Anderson Cooper 360" anytime soon, as Cooper has also signed a multi-year agreement with CNN.

He would be a good host, but just like what I thought. Everybody gets a talk show.

I guess the old idea of "if you like him as a journalist, you'll love him as a talk show host!" applies.

Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

I love the CNN New Years Eve show with Kathy Griffin and he. Why not try that as a daily staple of a show?

Obviously the FOX O&O will pass on this.

I'm thinking this could be pushed to be the Oprah replacement for the ABC O&Os, Allbritton WJLA, Hearst stations that carry Oprah, etc.. CBS O&Os though might have interest.

With NBC part owner of MSNBC which competes with CNN, where Anderson will be on a CNN show, I can't see the NBC O&O picking up Anderson Cooper's syndicated show.

Has everyone forgotten Anderson's stint as host of "The Mole"?

He's been dabbling in the Other Side of TV for ages. This is nothing new - even without his frequent guest hosting for Regis.

Update: Cooper's new syndicated talk show has been cleared in four major markets, consisting of the top three, plus Boston:

Interestingly, all but one of these stations (Tribune's WPIX) are Fox O&O's. I guess WNYW has better ideas.

Speaking of talk shows, someone started a thread about The View to air concurrently on ABC Daytime and first-run syndication. Was ABC really considering this? Or was this just a rumor?
