Andy Dean on WSB

I've heard bits and pieces of Andy on his WSB overnight show. I find him kind of compelling. I don't agree with him on some things and don't like his tendency to characterize people he doesn't agree with as stupid. (For example, I've never thought John Stewart was stupid.) And he sounds like his ego is already in the stratosphere.

But overall, I could see Andy as a potential replacement for Neal Boortz, whenever he does finally retire. But Andy Dean is already syndicated around the country on small stations. By the time Neal decides to hang it up, Andy's career might have progressed too far to replace Neal.
 
I agree, though I think that Andy Dean seems very young. I listen to his show when they play it @ 10 on News/Talk WHIO in Dayton. I tend to agree with him, I agree he is compelling.

What I find interesting is that he is NOT on twitter and NOT on Facebook.

Proudly a Republican, I agree with Andy on most things.
 
I have to agree with Spaceman. Roddy....you are a bright guy and I almost always agree with you but you've made a bad call here.
Andy Dean and the other guy on evenings are about the worst coices one could make for talk. Junior voices just can't do "angry white male" talk. And they are simply Republican shills......no intellectual substance. That Red States guy is embarrassing to be on a legend like WSB.
I will admit that finding warm bodies who can do talk radio well is next to impossible. And we will never find people we always agree with nor would we want that. While I agree with 50-70% of what they advocate I feel not so warm and fuzzy when these kind of guys carry the banner for conservative thought in our society.
Sean Hannity has done more harm to the school of conservative thought than even Rush Limbaugh. Neither are true conservatives but the liberal media has successfully labled them as such and the gullible American public swallows it hook, line, and sinker.
The sooner Andy and Red State head to Lew Dickey's Macon station.....the better.
 
Tom, you're probably correct. My opinion was based on 20 minutes of listening. I guess I got post happy. I'll listen again for longer.
 
I find myself listening to talk radio. I tend to be independent in my thinking so I find myself listening to both the left and the right. Generally, nearly all on the right sound alike and nearly all on the left sound alike. The difference with the right is Neal Boortz. He is a hardcore "anti-Obama" who puts the "S" in sensationalism. Hannity would not even come close to saying some of the stuff Boortz does on the radio BUT there is something different about Boortz. Perhaps he is more Libertarian but he is NOT a republican. Have you heard him on abortion and gay marriage??? He has the small government mentality in all fields. Boortz is an unusual cookie and stands out from the rest. My wife listens to him and she is a registered democrat but even though she does not agree with most of what he says, she says he makes her laugh. I do like it though when he goes on a "rant" with his "turbo-baptist" comments. He really makes sure that EVERYONE is offended.

Andy??? Too scripted. His shows sounds scripted which is another reason why I like Boortz much better. Who could take Boortz place? Don't know of anyone who even comes close. Erick Erickson and Boortz seem to disagree more than they agree and Erickson seems like a younger version of Limbaugh. A replacement for Boortz would have to be just another of the same.
 
Neal may preach for smaller federal government but he continues to support those candidates that wont do nothing but grow government. So called right wing talk radio talks a big game about being for smaller government but everyone they support is part of the same government growing team. If Neal truly supported candidates that would govern like he claims to want then he would be praising Ron Paul the closest person to the beliefs he claims to have about government.
 
I agree with some of the above comments about Boortz.
Neil can not be catagorized - he doesn't fit in the square hole and he doesn't fit in the round hole. And he will tell you that much of what he says is "showbiz." It's his job to get an emotional response from listeners. And he does it very effectively.
He will never be replaced with a like kind.....he is an original and that's why he has continued to be popular.
One future problem with WSB AM programming is Boortz and Clark. How can you replace either? They are such unique personalities and so good at what they do. Love 'em or hate 'em, they can never be replicated.
The problems with Andy Dean and Erik Erikkson.
1. Junior voices with politically macho Republican attitudes. They can make a statement that I might 100% agree with and I still want to slap them. I have no use for shills.....from either party.
2. They are not conversationalists. If you were sitting at their table for, say an award banquet, my guess is (and I have never met them)that outside of politics they would bore you silly. The "knack for yak" is a form of social intelligence and these guys, like most other radio personalities, just don't have it.
The Cox people know that the ride will be over in a few years and are trying to find the future Limbaugh/Boortz/Clark. Too bad the farm system for radio has been dismantled and we will be subjected to amateur hour again and again......
 
I don't get it. Who at Cox actually thinks Andy Dean is the young voice of talk? Did they not learn there lesson with Chris Krok? You've got a young talent, Joel Aaron, who actually knows how to form an intelligent thought and can actually have a debate with someone who disagree with him sitting on the side lines, filling in for Martha Zoller.
Maybe the Cox family wants to project that all young conservative are pompous a$$es so they can forward their political agenda.
