Andy Dean replaces Michael Savage on WHIO

Apparently Michael Savage is no longer on the air on WHIO replaced with Andy Dean's America Now www.americanowradio.com. I was hoping it was a local guy when I first heard it, but for a syndicated show it sounds a little rough.

Just a wild guess here...Savage's contract was up for renewal, bean-counters said "we're paying him WHAT?" Hope Andy does well in this time slot. His brother Jimmy makes great sausage products and boots. C'mon Jason, 'splain it to us!

Savage is great. Not everyday, but good that he's there to co-rant with when you feel like it.

I can see both sides here. I've no idea of the money side of talk radio but it does seem like those few at the top demand more and more.

Gosh, I didn't realize I was so popular here! (Just kidding!) And, sorry I've been off sick for a couple of days.

But, OK. First...it's not a corporately mandated decision. The decisions are made locally by the local managements. (I know no one believes that on these boards, but it's true.)

And no...the bean counters aren't to blame. But, if you look not only here, but across the country, the Savage show has been having some problems. In major cities, including his own home grounds of San Francisco...New York, I believe just to name a couple of markets off the top of my head.

In my opinion, what's being done is designed to bring WHIO Radio into the future of talk radio.

Is what we've done the answer? Don't know yet. We'll see...

How about a reasonable delay of the Info Overload hour from Boortz, maybe 9-10? As it is replaying half of it the next day has you saying all morning "Congress passed the bill" and then at 8:35 Boortz and Jamie saying "They may pass the bill today".

WHIO is being beaten like a rented mule on their website for this move (listener comments). I was not a Savage fan but he did have a professional approach crafted through years of broadcasting and syndication in the country's biggest markets. Andy Dean sounds like he just walked in off of the street and said "Cool, a radio station. Can I play?" Hard to believe he was doing a show on WSB in Atlanta. He's very small market, amateurish sounding. I hope Cox has a consultant who will give him some tips to sound more polished and professional. He's really irritating to listen to.

Andy Dean is not a Cox employee. His show is syndicated through Premiere Radio.

Okay, then I hope Premiere gets him some help. And I wish the Cox stations that are carrying him the best. By the way the Atlanta board has some very odd comments regarding WSB replacing Neil Boortz. Looks like some radio ma-ca-ca to me. I don't think Neil is going anywhere.
