Andy Ludlum Back To CBS

R&R reports Andy Ludlum will be back with CBS/El Lay starting Monday
overseeing the news AMs (KNX and KFWB). In some respects, it's as
a replacement for DGH.

That's great news, to be brought back after having been laid off by
KFWB in October. From what I read then, not only on R-I but also
other sites, he was well thought of by the staff.

So congrats--we'll leave it at that and not bad-mouth the CBS brass
for all their indiscrections and stupidity during 2008. Oops, I just did. ;D

In ALL respects it's a replacement for DGH! Andy is a good guy--not ruled by ego or past glories--and he knows what he is doing. He faces a huge task in these days of shrinking revenues, but he will come up with a way to make the very best with what he has--and hopefully bring KNX back to a modicum of its former glory, along with fine-tuning KFWB, which has been guided since Andy left by very-capable news director Paul Gomez.

Wonder if he'll dump the weekend infomercials and talk shows and other non-news stuff? After all, their slogan is "All News, All The Time." (Nowhere does it mention infomercials or talk shows!) If he doesn't, maybe their slogan should be "News, Traffic, Infomercials." ;)

And will any of the other laid-off staff be reinstated with DGH out of the picture?

I had the feeling that he was dumped for making his feelings known that he did not want to go the infomercial route. I'd think that CBS reconsidered a lot of the facts and brought him back when they realized that he was improving KFWB before he was let go. However, with the infomercials already in place it could be nearly impossible to get rid of them.
