Andy Rush Passes

Andy Rush passed away on May 17th.

Andy worked at KFOG in the early 80's doing the Sunday Jazz Brunch and other shifts and weekends and The Wax Museum on KRQR. Before coming to SF Andy worked at KZAP and KROY-FM in Sacramento. He left SF for LA in 1987 where he worked at KNX-FM, KMPC-FM and KCSN. He was also an instructor at The LAB in Hollywood. For the last several years he was working as a producer at KSWD The Sound in Los Angeles. Andy who was felled by a sudden, massive heart attack was 60.

Big surprise, sudden sadness ...and VERY Andy to Rush out without even saying goodbye.
We've been friends for decades, getting together between various gigs at different radio stations in different Golden State cities and talking about radio, the California cities we worked and the friends we made along the way. In all honesty, we also talked about many of the jerks in this business, too. When talking to Andy, the conversations about jerks trumped the so-called nice news, and was always worth the admission fee. He had such a great range of snide inflections and was usually spot on.
Underneath it all, a kid with a giant interest in communication media, a wonderful, complicated Beagle Dog lovin' heart, too sensitive for many of the industries unfairnesses, but always leaning toward Love's promise.
So - now, his headphones are unplugged, his mic is closed and he is free from all the insensitivities of our society's "jerks." He's probably surprised to be in such a state of peace that even the so-called nice guys aren't that difficult to talk about.
RIP, Andy Rush
