Angela Russell anchoring on KING

Saw Angela Russell anchor the Sunday night late show on KING -- so not sure if that is a freelance fill-in gig or first step to beef up late night weekend newscasts?

Additionally the Jim Guy replacement in weather department (Jordan W) seems to be a strong up and coming talent. Good hire.

Interesting. She is not currently on the KING5 website (Meet the team)

But she would be a nice addition, if it goes beyond freelancing. I don't think she ever had chemistry with Raible over at KIRO7, but she is definitely a talented anchor.

Glad to see Angela Russell back somewhere. Plenty of experience with KIRO and other stations and she will fit well at ch 5.

I'm not overly impressed with any of KING's new weather talent. The weeknight evening weather anchors are particularly bad -- they come across as unpolished and somehwat unprofessional. Jordan W is the best of the new talent though.

Jeff, Keisha, Jim, and Mary are definitely missed.

KING is a shell of itself, IMO. But back on point, Jordan is a pretty good weather talent. Probably will move to a bigger market within another year or two. Angela Russell, as mentioned, brings some fresh air. Anyone have any recent rating data?

Was she anchoring solo? If so, she was probably freelancing - filling in for Greg Copeland. Angela was awful on KIRO w/ Steve Raible, by far the weakest of the women that sat alongside him between Susan Hutchison and Monique Ming-Laven. Perhaps she's better alongside someone else.

As for Jordan Wilkerson, she was at KIMA in the Tri-Cities a few years ago and I remember seeing her fill in on KOMO over Christmas one year. I agree that she's better than Jordan Steele, who is awful (I've detailed my thoughts re: him here previously). Rhonda Lee is okay, she has a more traditional style, but when I look at both of them I have to ask - is this the best talent we can get for market #13?

Jordan was doing weekend WX for KEPR Tri-Cities (and simulcast on KIMA). She's not the only Tri-Cities person in Seattle currently - Annie Andrews ex-KEPR is at Q13.

Glad to hear about Angela Russell -- she seemed like a nice person. I'm sure she was just freelancing -- apparently the other Angela wasn't available? :)

According to Angela's linkedin page, she has been freelancing as a reporter for KING since 2015! Did not know that. Obviously her status has been upgraded.
