Angels sign a syndication deal with Compass Media

Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim signed a deal with Compass Media Networks to syndicate a weekly package of games (25 in all) to various stations across the country (WFAN, WTEM, and WQXI will be among the stations). These will be separately-produced broadcasts (in other words, not those from KLAA-AM, the team's O&O flagship) with their own play-by-play team (Chris Carrino and Steve Quis on PxP, Steve Phillips and Darryl Hamilton on color). The first game is May 29th versus the Yankees.

interesting...

bringing in a complete east coast group to broadcast is strange but must be part of the plan. no coincidence that its against the NYY.

i guess they have to pay the pujols contract somehow. (inter)national branding works for man u, NYY, chelsea fc, cowboys, etc... we'll see if it works for a stumbling west coast team.

phillips is good and hopefully he can use this as a stepping stone back to regular national work (as long as he can keep his eyes on the field)...

not just bringing in east coast broadcasters....Compass approached our Pennsylvania station about getting on board with Angels baseball.

By the way.....we said no.
