Angie Honda

I believe she's programming a Smooth Jazz station in Cleveland. Not sure of the calls. Hope this helps. :)

Angie is applying her talents as PD of WNWV Cleveland

Thanks a lot...just wondered what happened to her, I didn't hear her the last time I was in Phoenix. First Cliff Smith leaves, then Angie is gone....

Angie Handa now works in Fresno at a AC station. I used to work with her at KLRS in Santa Cruz in 1988

Anyone know of the wherabouts of the former KYOT announcers, Cliff Smith, Angie Handa, and the rest? I used to spend a lot of time in Phoenix enjoying KYOT from 2006 until the changeover.

My time at the station was from 1993 - 1996, so a lot of the people I know shuffled out after the station was absorbed into Chancellor & Clear Channel. Blake, Talaya, and Barbara voicetracked from home and worked for other unrelated stations, but Clear Channel could replace them with people within their company after they took over (and technology had advanced beyond the stuff we were doing with CD jukeboxes and DOS 6.1) Cliff was probably the last one remaining who had been hired for day 1 of the format. Of the former KYOT crew that I keep up with:

Former PD Nick Francis is Music Director of knkx Seattle/Jazz24.org. Related: former KZON/KUKQ/KUPD/KSTM jock Mary McCann is a jock there when she's not working on her online ventures.

Blake Lawrence is back in San Francisco. After programming dance formats for XM he's now running some online EDM stations.

Talaya Trigueros is still doing middays at KTWV Los Angeles.

Barbara Blake is running citizenplanet.com, an outgrowth of the smooth jazz sunday brunch she hosted online after smooth jazz radio flatlined. (That Citizen Planet name sticks with me like she had done a world music show on KYOT back in the day by the same name. We did a lot of out of the box stuff in the early days when it wasn't a big corporate operation.)

Based on LinkedIn, Cliff Smith is still in the valley but out of radio.

If it weren't for the Bone Mama supporting local music like she did -- in an era when the KDKB comps had run their course -- there likely would not have been a Beef Vegan (formerly of KWSS-LP). And whenever I hear The B-52's "Follow Your Bliss," I still think of her morning news updates on KUKQ.
