Angotti Sr

From the Wednesday December 20th, 2006 Business section of the Journal and Courier:

"Stephanie Patterson has joined the Tippecanoe Community Health Clinic in Lafayette as community relations cooridinator".

FYI and good luck to Steph !!!

With this thread being started by LittleOlme some time ago at which time LittleOlme told us all how Art Angotti made money for his investors "and lots of it", with the announcement of the sale of Fort Wayne by Art, this would be a good time for LittleOlme to further explain, just how smart the senior is. Art and his investors put about $8million in Fort Wayne. Artie, Sandy, Greg, and several more have all had their hand in trying to run Fort Wayne with the results being a loss of a few more $Million. Simple cost of money over the last few years would place a yearly cost of money on the original $8Million at a half million per year. So, let's round this all off to an investment of $12Million. The $12 Million is short of the reality. The stations have never made any money. So, Art lays in about $12Million of his investors money and sells for somewhere a little south of $4Million. That, is making money for your investors.....and "lots of it". I am sure glad that I don't make "lots of money". I couldn't afford it.

I am sorry, but I just can't leave this thread alone.....It was started by someone hailing Art Angotti for making so much money for his investors. Fort Wayne, $9Million investment sold for $3.8. Today, his largest market, (and biggest money maker in the past) South Bend attempts to see just how they did with the release of the book, only to learn that they can't get the numbers because Art hasn't paid the bill.......(I'll bet it's Arbitron's fault). ::) You can trust me, Lafayette ain't gonna buy the numbers either. Can he not afford it, or does he just not understand the business???? I don't think this has anything to do with my feelings toward Art Angotti, it has to do with owners (those rich ones referred to in other threads) who hold families fate in his hands, and doesn't let them do the jobs. Radio Ink always does the 50 best GM's, 50 best PD's in each format.....when I get time, I am going to start a thread of the 10 WORST owners and see who makes the list.

All this "Art talk" is making me wonder just how well they'll fare in Lafayette when the Arbs are released at the end of the month. WAZY went from one extreme to another over the duration of the book by having a full airstaff weekdays (minus evenings and overnights) and recieved an imaging facelift at the start of the book to having one jock and automation/satellite taking care of the remainder. The Wolf went from having two local jocks and gaining Lia to going entirely on the bird (keeping Lia and Blair) and The Rocket has maintained its status quo with Bob & Tom, Steve, and Alice Cooper. You'd think after a lackluster Spring book, they'd try to maintain the changes they made at the beginning of the fall book with Z and The Wolf, especially.

I know someone else within the Indiana board already said this, but I wonder if they'll take WAZY on the bird in the mornings. WAZY seems to like Superadio's CHR product and they have a morning show available for syndication, Ace and TJ. Perhaps we'll see them on mornings, Scotty in the afternoons, and Romeo's Playhouse at night in the not too distant future. *shrugs* Just a thought, but it does seem rather odd that they haven't filled that co-host chair yet.

Are you talking about the "dog show" numbers of 12+ (that only matter to the general public), or the ones that actually count in how the station programs and sells itself (like Adults 25-54 and Females 35-64)?

We should start a new thread for this subject. The Lafayette book will be out at the end of this month/beginning of February.
The person closest to the actual numbers in each of the 3 or 4 most important demos wins a hearty handshake.
