Apparently, Ankarlo loves the folks in Phoenix and thinks that everyone in Dallas just plain sucks. Here's an email he sent to the staff of KTAR.


Folks—

I’ve worked for my share of radio companies and in some fine markets but I have to say that, unless you are all blowing smoke (And if you are—keep doing it!), I have NEVER seen a staff with more talent and with such a sense of teamwork than I see here (Nope, I’m not blowing smoke either!). My wife was on Cloud 9 after last night’s Christmas party because, like me, she thought quality radio stations and radio groups were a thing of the past.

I am proud to be joining your team!

OH come on! What you expect him to say? "Hey folks,it is really a barren desolated desert out here". " I noticed the local cigar stores doesn't use a wooden indian statue,they just go to the salt river reservation,and with a bottle of whiskey,hire one""Man you sure have a lot of illegals here".

He's going to give a sachrine appraisal no matter what market he is in, and it will always be better than the last. That's just standard saran wrap PR. BTW a lot of people get drunk at Christmas parties and lie a lot

I'm not buying it either, just based on the 'and carlos' line.

I've got a friend who works for the Ticket, and apparently everytime the Musers would bust Ankarlo's balls about the KLIF morning show team 'Darrell and Carlo", Ankarlo himself would get his panties in a wad, complain to management, etc...

Unless he's done a complete 180, I don't buy that he's now USING a line that used to piss him off so much...

Can you be sure that is even real? It is signed Darrel and Carlos. The Ticket used to use that line of humor and he had no tolerance for it. Now in another market he's suddenly embracing it?

BTW, I am just about sick of hearing about Darrel and Carlo on this board. Anyone that screams at callers and calls them "a puke" or specifying which vital organs he will rip out of them and eat (and this caller was a minister) deserves ZERO of our attention. We didn't pay attention to him while he was here, so why does what he does in a crappier market suddenly the hot topic?

Can't wait till the idiots who hired him start figuring out who/what he really is.
Although like any programmer, they'll defend their hire no matter what.
