Ann Coulter Sighting On MSNBC

Many have long recognized MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" as some sort of a left-leaning "echo chamber," in that most, if not all, of Keith's guests shared his viewpoint and would rarely disagree.

With Lawrence O'Donnell's "Last Word" now assuming the time slot, it now appears that they're truly "leaning forward" as far as truly, for lack of a better term, fair and balanced discussion goes: One of his guests on Thursday's show was noted conservative commentator Ann Coulter... Yes, the same Ann Coulter that was once "banned for life" from NBC.

With the Congressional vote to defeat the duplicate jet engine bill being a joint effort of liberals and tea party people, there might be a lot of common ground between the left and the libertarians.

Ann Coulter is an attack-dog who always says outrageous things. This means she makes a good guest. I wouldn't read anything more into her appearance on MSNBC or anywhere else. Fox News has guest liberals on sometimes, too.

It's not so much the presence of a well-known conservative commentator on an MSNBC program, which is mostly what the Mediaite article focuses on, but the fact that she was allowed back in the good graces of NBC after the aforementioned "ban" - which is something Mediaite apparently forgot or chose not to mention. (I was under the impression that the ban included MSNBC as well as NBC.)

Yeah, well...NBC is under new management, as we all know. I never heard why she was "banned," but if it was because she says stuff that's right wing and politically incorrect...well, duh.

Perhaps Comcast thinks that getting some publicity and building controversy for MSNBC will build ratings, and I'm sure they consider that a good thing.

Or perhaps Coulter's appearance just flew under the corporate radar. That happens, too.

Is this all really noteworthy? I really don't understand the fascination between who appears where and says what to whom wherever especially in the cable "news" rotunda. From where I sit, nothing is ultimately being accomplished in this country other than a bunch of TMZ-like snippets so the short-sighted mindsets can spin many a wheels over brief sound bites that may or may not be in context from folks that have nothing to do with the state that we are in.

It all seems like a great cloud of obfuscation that too many of the mindless masses are buying into and marching along to like lemmings. It's scary really.

Both sides are to blame, so spare me your rhetoric to pigeon hole me into the ideology bubble you wish to pop.
