Ann Meara Dies at 85

The longtime wife and comedy partner of husband Jerry Stiller and mother of Ben Stiller died Saturday of undisclosed causes.

I remember about 25 years ago Jerry and Ann were spokespersons for Blue Nun Wine and some of those bits were among the most hilarious spots I've ever heard.

Goodbye Amazonia and good night. :(

Jerry has been more visible on TV more recently than Anne, but they had always been a long time favorite comedy team of mine since my youth. May she RIP.

Sad news. I know I've watched her a lot over the years.

She worked in the bar called Archie Bunker's Place after "All in the Family" ended. I remember Archie firing her character because she had a drinking problem.

She earned several Emmy nods for that role. She was a wonderful actress and had a very successful career. May she RIP.

I remember Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller appearing so often on the Ed Sullivan show that they were virtually regulars. Always enjoyable and funny, with a real human touch.

A big thumbs down though to a local early-morning AM talk-jock who is probably in his 80's and should have retired years ago, who kept announcing that Anne Murray had died. His co-host kept correcting him but he just kept repeating it. I am not making this up.
