Annenberg Learner to Sunset on July 1, 2026

I remember this group back when Public Television stations used to air instructional programming during certain parts of the day. At one point Annenberg got their funding from both CPB and local PBS affiliates during their peak. Some of this is because in some parts of the country we demand that public TV stations should be the place for journalism and documentaries and in other cases theres instructional programming from Coursera, EDX, Various colleges and Khan Academy that have taken the void and do the instructional videos themselves as the other factor here.

To our Learner community,

Since 1981, Annenberg Learner has had the privilege of providing free educational resources to teachers, students, and families around the world. Together, we have built an extraordinary legacy, one rooted in the belief that excellent education should be accessible to all. The Annenberg family and Foundation are deeply proud of the impact Learner has made in classrooms and homes for more than four decades, and the Foundation continues its work providing support in various sectors of education.

We write today to share that Annenberg Learner will be sunsetting at the end of the school year. Learner.org will remain accessible through June 30, 2026 and will go offline beginning July 1, 2026. We know many of you depend on these resources in your teaching practice, and it is important to us that you have ample time to prepare for this transition.

Agency for Instructional Technology had a similar fate like Annenberg Learner they used to produce instructional programming for local PBS affiliates but ended up fading away in 2015 because of the same reasons Annenberg is facing today. Note the AIT archives are inside the Indiana University library as seen here.

Annenberg Learners archives are yet to be determined as of 2025.
