Annette's Funeral

Did anyone else read or hear when Annette Funicello’s funeral was? It’s been a week since she passed away (on April 8th) and I didn't see if there was a memorial mass or service for her, or if she was buried in California or in Utica New York where she was born.

I'm sure all arrangements will be held in California. That was her true home. Any relatives she has in Utica are cousins. Annette was very proud of her Utica roots and came back often while her grandparents and aunts & uncles were alive. She would appear in parades and other celebrations in Utica. She and Dick Clark actually encouraged Uticans to visit them while visiting California. BTW, I went to the same grammar school as Annette, but she and her family had left for California by the time I was in kindergarten. Uticans are very proud of Annette (& Dick Clark). She was very much loved.

I've followed her since 1955 and I have never heard anyone say anything critical or inappropriate about her. I'm sure she had her faults but you would never know.

I can't think of anyone who would hold a candle to her today. Perhaps the 'naughty' Annette would be Betty White. ;D

Annette had "CLASS" and even in her later years of illness she displayed it. She brought a special spark to whatever she was doing. Our world is a little sadder for her having left, but I have to think that Heaven got a little brighter when she arrived.

Apparently, Annette wasn't a complete Disney goody-two shoes. Paul Anka's biography, according to a Washington Post story, came out shortly before her death and revealed the Paul had done the deed with Annette right under her mother's nose.

Tall Paul, he's my all.

Three cheers for Paul. At least somebody got to fulfill the dream of millions of Baby Boomer boys.

Three thumbs down for Anka.

A REAL man doesn't go around bragging about his sex life, especially in an attempt to hype his book.

What happened, if anything, between Anka and Annette should have remained between both of them.

Even if it did happen it was/is no big deal. Today's "stars" would have publicized that online and in the media endlessly in the belief that any publicity is good publicity. Stars, especially those stars, of yesteryear thought otherwise.

I remember hearing about sexual escapades on the set of The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family as well. Dunno if any of that was true and don't care.

She is one of the extremely few performers who maintained their dignity (remember dignity?) throughout their career, and for that she deserves special recognition. She avoided exploiting herself professionally or personally, and I'd be willing to bet good money that she had plenty of lucrative offers to do so. She was very much out of place in a 21st Century entertainment industry that thrives on darkness and perversion. May she know eternal peace and joy.

Well, the song couldn't have been about Anka...he's 5'6".

I leafed through his bio at Barnes & Noble this past weekend and missed the Annette reference. What struck me was the number of people he called friends who, now that they're gone, he's willing to (accurately, perhaps) call "bad drunk" and worse.

I haven't yet (and I only skimmed 30 or 40 pages) seen him take a shot at someone who can shoot back.

And though Annette was alive when he wrote the book, she clearly wasn't in any condition to rebut the allegation (if, in fact, it's in there...I can't find the article in the Washington Post or any reference to Anka having said it happened).
