Anniversary date for Jay Leno

Does NBC celebrate Jay Leno for 18 years on The Tonight Show? Or did they reset the clock, with his six months absence from the show? So, March 2011, do they celebrate his one year anniversary?

That's a very good question. Looking back to one year ago, it feels as if those events happen in some alternate reality, universe or whatever you want to call it.

I doubt Leno or NBC will make a big fuss over the anniversary dates until Leno's 20th year of hosting the show comes up. By then, most people would have forgotten that Conan had ever hosted the show. Because of that, it would let NBC make a big deal out of Jay's 20th anniversary when the time comes regardless of Leno's nine months absence from the show. That's my opinion on the subject.

IMHO: If NBC were to subtract the "Jay Leno Show" period in 2009-10, then you'd have to think they would also factor in all of the nights that he substituted for Johnny Carson before he took over fulltime. So, cumulatively, Leno might actually have started his "20th anniversary" of hosting "The Tonight Show" by now.

Good one, Kent ;D

I seriously doubt there will be any mention of any anniversary. It would just stir up a hornets nest. I agree, maybe at 20.

BTW, Jay had some good Betty White clips when she guested Wednesday. Not only some early B&W stuff, but what must be somewhat of a rare clip of Betty and Bea Arthur on the Dinah Shore talk show circa early 70's. Of course, it's all available on nbc.com/tonightshow

Where are all the Facebook pages wanting Betty to host a show at 10 PM on NBC?
