Listening to Ron Michaels this morning, they said listen today at 3pm for an annoucement "that will change Bay Area Radio" let the speculation begin!

Well, it's not 3:00 yet, but a rather blatant clue is on their website - re- branded as "Oldies 103.7"

I thought the "Oldies" label was death, these days...

The last three songs played on The Band, so it seems:
- The Long and Winding Road, Beatles
- Don't Stop, Fleetwood Mac
- Changes, David Bowie

And the first song of Oldies 103.7:
- I Feel Good, James Brown

Now that CC has Bob Rivers Show in morinings at Oldies 95.7 in Seattle I wonder if they will pipe it in down here on 103.7.

So are they "Oldies 103.7 the Band"? or just "Oldies 103.7"? The website is a bit... schizoid so far.

"The New Oldies 103.7," yup. Although a promo for The Band just slipped through the cracks a few minutes ago.

I know that KFRC-True Oldies 1550 hasn't been much of a factor in the ratings but I am almost sure that the "Oldies 103.7" will pretty much put the final nails on KFRC's coffin. I wonder what CBS will do with 1550 now?

yeah it would need to be something the listener can't get on FM, soooo...go with the Classic Live 105 channel they run on their HD2!!! Lots of those songs are as old as the 80s stuff that gets played on KFRC now.

This is the right play for 103.7. I love the new sound!

Now, if the Bay Area could only get a decent hard rock station...
(or even a decent alternative station, for that matter)

Live 105 blows. Would love to see CBS blow up that brand.

Lately they sound like they've tweaked to skew a bit older. Lots of Hot AC crossover stuff. It's sounding like the Click FM stations that are popping up in other markets.

This is typical. When the late and unlamented 106.9/KFRC was born, PSAs and tags for the even more unlamented Free-FM popped up constantly for a few weeks - including commercials read by Adam Carolla.

I also recall that for weeks after 99.7 KFRC flipped to MOViN, one of those Metabolife 365 testimonials done by one of their fired Oldies jocks kept showing up on air. Obviously, the spot had been pre-sold well in advance.

Sounds like a great way to cannibalize Alice.

Same logo as Oldies 103.7 in Florida. No surprise, just an observation.

Google the various "Kiss-FMs" sometime. 90% of the logos are an exact replica of the original KIIS-FM in LA...though not the one in the Bay Area, oddly enough.

If you're voice-tracking jocks, why not do the same with your graphic art?
