NJRM friends and members HI everyone! It has been a long time since you have heard from me. Here is an update from General Secretary George Laurie: The first floor of our 3 story building is nearing completion. The second story, which is mostly sponsored by a fraternal organization will begin renovation next week. I understand that the second floor will be a speedy renovation. The third floor, the new home of NJRM will follow after that. That means that sooner than planned, NJRM will finally have a home to put all our audio and memorialbilia in! At this point, Dover Historical Society Museum, our liason, has done all the work associated with the building. NJRM, as a subsidary, has not had the money, nor the manpower to contribute to the cause of simply getting the building (a very large, historical home) ready for occupancy. While we have many friends, we have very few members. Some of you have contributed money in the past, but to be truthful, in our 5 years of existance, NJRM has collected just under $200 of contributions!...and that money was spent on a few office supplies and postage for letters sent out about the museum. In short, yes, we are looking for people who would like to become members of NJRM; this is more important now than it was 5 years ago, because our building is becoming complete faster than thought! <The Condit House is located on East Blackwell Street ..Rt 46, in Dover, NJ.> We need actually three types of contributions: 1. Please send to your friends who are in or have been in NJ radio this email...circulate it. Can you get it published in your local newspaper?? It was because of you that we have been able to attract so many NJ broadcasters in the past! 2. We continue to solicit NJ radio memorialbilia, audio and written word and audio!....we continue to need contributions of equipment....from audio to simple office furniture...people to help deliver or mail it to us, and......we need people to serve in our executive committee! By spreading the word, you may help us find an executive that not only cares about our cause but can help to make the museum a reality! 3. We simply need paying members. The Dover Historical Society has footed the bill for 95% of the restoration of the Condit House, our future home. I feel that if NJRM can contribute some money to the home, that the third floor would not only become "ours"..but that it will be finished faster than we can expect. Overall we expect to have a fairly large showcase room, an operating studio with an operating small AM radio station,a storage area, a media storage area/file system, and facilities for patrons to listen to broadcasts that are donated. With many thanks to the few who have helped us out financially in the past, and that was a couple of years ago, I am asking for folks to sign up for the NJRM Fund Drive. I would like to donate $1,000.00 to Dover Historical Society in order to buy building materials to build out the NJRM Museum Floor by getting more members to join NJRM. Actually I'd like to donate $2,000.00, but one step at a time! If we exceed expectations, NJRM will invest in equipment that we have not been fortunate enough to have donated to us. I am asking (pleading!, praying?!) for a $25.00 donation, per person, including NJRM executives, for a membership with NJRM that will include all of 2006. I am also hoping that NJ radio stations will support us by making a donation to the museum as well. You can make the check payable toNJRM. (don't make it out to me!) Send your check and pertinent information to: Carl Van Orden 35 Cherry Hill RoadHonesdale, PA 18431 Our immediate goal is $1000.00 by October 1, 2005. In return, I will mail you a certificate of Membership, which you can use whenever you visit the museum. (free admission for any event). Lastly, we are seeking qualified volunteers to serve on our Executive Committee. We need : 1. One treasurer, responsible for NJRM donations, payouts, receivables, reporting to the General Manager. 2. Marketers: People interested in , or experienced in advertising and marketing, to email, or mail information about NJRM, reporting to our Regional VP's in North, Central, Southern NJ. This person should also be able to write press releases and should also be aquainted with area newspapers/radio stations. 3. The NJRM President requires a general secretary to field emails about general museum business. Basically this person will dispatch emails and requests for information to the appropriate person. 4. We need a radio engineer, someone who has hands-on experience, who can build-out/manage our on-air radio station (part 15 AM/FM), experience including computer assisted automation. This is a Vice President position with in our structure. 5. Donation Supervisor: This person will be responsible for soliciting and obtaining general supplies, such as office supplies, donations of display materials and similar activities. 6. DESPERATELY need people who can manage our website. One position is Vice President of Web....all others will report to this person. WE have an on-going website which needs maintenence and a touch that only a person with a lot of computer experience can deal with. The postions report to the President of NJRM. You will need to know how to apply text, audio and jpegs to the website. 7. Moving Supervisor: This person will be in charge of physically moving NJRM donations from one site to another. If you are a mover by trade, NJRM is a tax-deductible organization and your costs can be deducted. A very important position reportable to the General Secretary. MOST POSITIONS CAN BE DONE IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR HOME IN FRONT OF YOUR COMPUTER!...So donating your experience, knowledge, and your time is basically what I am asking for. Above all, please circulate this email to your friends, get it published, get it broadcast, because that is how we got as large as we are now; through the efforts of a few and a few efforts. Remember, putting it off in hopes someone else will step in nearly always results in failure. If you are interested in NJ radio and want to help out if only just a little with NJRM, we do need your help! With your help and all the efforts we have already had, NJRM will continue to grow and be a reality, very very very soon!
