Joel Hollander, president of CBS Radio, told O&A on air that they guarantee the show will be on more stations, and cited the same way Mark Messier guaranteed the Rangers would win the Stanley Cup. Joel gave them a miniature Stanley Cup from a souvenier shop for symbolism, but Opie demanded Joel bring the real Stanley Cup to prove what he meant. Today, the real Stanley Cup was brought to the show. It pretty much stopped the show as everyone admired it and took pictures with it.
 
The good people at CBS have been really nice to all the people who are calling in and they are beginning to take notice. In fact a CBS exec was mentioning us to an insider that I know. Deadman, are you and your posse against the morning show or against the whole format?
 
My posse is for flipping DAVE to FREE FM during the week and having the station play music on the weekends like other Free FMs are doing.
 
This is a joke, right? The whole thread? The last time the "public" influenced what happens with a radio format via protests and petitions and web sites would be, well....you'd have to go back to.....NEVER.So good luck. If this happens, you'll think you'll have had something to do with it....in reality, it'll be pure coincidence. Sort of like those weird times when you'd take a request line call for a song that was set to come up on the log within 5 minutes. The listener would just melt with joy....in reality, it was just serendipity.
 
actually I got a call from Rob Barnett at CBS Radio this afternoon... he was pretty interested in my thoughts about the getting O&A and T&R in Atlanta. He is concerned about DAVE's performance. I bet if DAVE doesn't get any better by the Spring or Summer book, their days could numbered.
 
Rob Barnett? The President of Programming for CBS Radio? From New York? Called you this afternoon? Man, if you've got that kind of stroke, why do you need a petition? You should just fly up, get a tee time at Oak Hill or Bethpage (the Black Course, naturally) then go ahead and make a few programming and personnel decisions around the country over a scotch in the clubhouse after the round....

Look man... I go out to the clubs and get [moderator edit]. Don't be associating me with dorks and lotr. I don't like crap on Atlanta radio and I just do something about it instead of getting on a msg board and bitch. Less bitching more action will get things done.
 
Let's have a big round of applause for Deadman who goes out to the clubs and takes care of business. Of course I have to wonder if it is one of those clubs you have to pay to have tyour business taken care of.

You could not be more wrong. Deadman may be obsessed, but a LOTR loving, momma's basement geek, he is not. The opposite might be a closer discription.

I contacted CBS Radio about a week and a half ago, because I really want Free FM in Atlanta. I understand that many people want music but the ride to and from work has been dead for months now. I can't think of a single good show in the mornings and I used to listen to the Freedom of Choice at 5, but now that it is filled with commercials instead of 50 minutes of music I rarely listen to it anymore.However, instead of O&A I personally think that the Adam Carolla show is much funnier. Plus, while O&A are on only from 6 to 9 Adam Carolla is on from 8 to 1 EST. That is just my preference though, but they have to do something.....anything is better than Barnes & Firfur, The Frank and Wanda Morning Show, The A-Team In the Morning, Axel & Leslie, and any other local morning show.
