Annoying Amber Alerts

Nurse Jeff and I nearly careened off I-10 Wednesday afternoon while listening to the Evil One (Joe Crummey) on KFYI. It wasn't what he said, but those damnable Amber Alerts which are played too often and from the sounder you'd think Al Qaida dropped the big one  Don't get us wrong, the Nurse and I are all for the chullren (that's why we voted to increase the taxes on the Buckeye media hut) but give it a break!! Amber alerts are more annoying than the dance version of "Riders On The Storm" we heard the other day at LA Fitness

They might sound annoying but they work...and I would imagine you'd feel a little different if you just found out your son or daughter was gone and you wanted to get word out around the city ASAP.

The only thing more annoying than watching a Gremlin going down I-10 is following a Gremlin down I-10. That exhaust is murder on the lungs!

We got a waiver from ADEQ and Nurse Jeff has been instructed to fill the tank with ethanol. Don't knock this fitting tribute to the engineering geniuses at AMC...why do you think Chrysler bought 'em out? Funny how the '76 Gremlin generates more interest now that this page has been redesigned. ;D ;D

I agree, I was trying to watch "Lost" and they kept runnning top and bottom crawls all over the screen. Its "Lost", second to last show of the season, you think I'm getting up to find some damn kid?

It seems like they involve family disputes not stranger kidnapping....I saw a statistic that there are about 140 stranger kidnappings of children a year and about 40 turn up dead or are not found...center for exploited and missing childrenthe media hypes these situations...... in the southwest how many of these alerts are linked to illegals being smuggled and someone holding some kid til he gets paid??the "parents" are probably partly to blame i n 80% of these cases

My favorite engineering "feature" of the Gremlin was how they designed the seat back to exactly be in the right position to honk the horn when the seat is flipped forward to let someone in or out of the back seat. Ergonomics like that don't come by chance. Takes lots of special effort to find that nexus. The horn is part of the amber alert system. Dr. Akbar flips the seat forward to unload his Smitty's bags that he reuses at the grocery store, the horn honks, and people around him remember to tune in for amber alerts. Also alerts Nurse Jeff in the media hut so he can turn off XM and have some local radio on by the time the Doctor gets into the house.

I keep looking for the union guy to weigh our produce at the Buckeye Smitty's, but can't find him! Another stroke of AMC genius is when accelerating rapidly, the vacuum assisted windshield wipers slow down  At times like those, Nurse Jeff learns words seldom heard at the Media Hut. You're right about XM...too many choices. We get our jollies from listening to all the new FM rimshots serving Phoenix from East Bimfcuk, Az ;D So how come Dewey-Humbolt's Star 97 Five gets a pass on those Annoying Amber Alerts?

It might be because they are running automated and their EAS box hasnt been programmed to do an autoforward of the alert after 15 minutes....OR..... they haven't upgraded their EAS box to recieve the AMBER tone set (IIRC , compliance with this upgrade was voluntary and had a generous deadline, think it was July of this year) -30-

Our family had the bitchin Pacer X back in '76. Great car for the Arizona heat, all windows, all bulged out to magnify the heat.BTW, there is a surviving Pacer wagon at 46th Street and Oak, Its in great condition, and a rare chance to chortle.
