ANNUAL REPLAY OF `IT'

Has anyone heard if there will be another edition of "IT" aired in the comng weeks. For those of you unfamiliar, IT is a replay of charted pop music songs from the 1930s through today and spans the Decades channel. IT is an amazing collaboration and I hope the tradition continues.

its good and some parts are scary

Like last year i was listening and they where playing all the songs from the week of 9-15-01 man was that scary

yeah september is almost over...i wonder if they will to the IT playback on their specials channel 2 without having to interrupt regular programming on the decades channels.

I like IT except when they get to the mid and late 90's and they play way too much country and rap. Then when they get to the 2000's I barely listen to it with way too much rap.
Still when is it coming back. I am looking forward to the 80's it the most.

"IT" officially begins Oct. 18 on 40s on 4. For those of you who've never experienced IT, this is a fabulous four weeks of programming. Drop all your inhibitions about corny music, or music you despise and just listen and here the transformation of popular music in the 20th and into the 21st century. the 40s on 4 will actually start IT in the mid 1930s.

It would be fascinating if they can come up with charted music that started as early as the late 1870's. If they can come up with recordings of John Phillips Sousa band, Ada Jones, and Len Spencer. They were the first recording superstars that charted in the U.S. before Bing Crosby, Paul Whiteman, Rudy Valli etc. I wonder if their recordings are even in existence.

The oldest song XM has in it's library comes off the "Pop Music: The Early Years" CD (Columbia Special Products/Sony Music) -- The United States Marine Band performing "The Wasington Post March" under the direction of John Phillip Sousa c. 1890!
