Another AM Conservative Talker Coming- not 1230 ??

I received another call from a program provider asking about two shows I carry. I asked if this inquiry was for 1230. The answer was "no- I can't tell what station I'm calling for" I was able to discreetly find out that it's an AM, not WTVN, in Columbus in direct conflict with 1230.

From the gist of what this rep was asking, it looks like a station is wanting to pick up a female midday talker, an ex sci-fi guy AND an over-the top extremely conservative guy in the evening.

Anyway, if it's who I think it is, I told my rep to go ahead with my blessings.

WVKO?

Hey CDP- you'd be great doing talk!

You know what I know. Anything else is just speculation.

Doubtful it's WVKO, they haven't even put up one stick yet. They are months away and this sounds like a first of the year situation.

I'm doing great- WLOH is a little dynamo again. We're doing radio for the fun of doing radio and we are making a living.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I can't even buy Bruce Collins lunch so if I am going to get a talk gig, it won't be there. I seem to be on the permanently ignore list. I sent JC a link to a podcast, he liked it, said Bruce should listen and he would try but that didn't help either.

If I can help out with anything on LOH like liners, psa's, whatever, get in touch! Home studio sounds good.

If you hear anything more, PLEASE pass it on. I can't tell you how much I want to do it. This city is big enough to have more media in all formats.

Ok, so the female and the over the topper includes Ingram and Doyle from TRN from a syndication perspective. The only other outlet that may be looking for a format change on am would be WMNI. That would keep those shows out your neck of the woods because of their directional away from Lancaster and Farfield County.

My guess is the call you received the other day was from LAMPO. I believe they have been looking for a city grade signal since Salem held a gun to their heads earlier this year.

To add fuel to the fire, I saw on another cite that Jim Quinn from Pittsburg mentioned that he would be on in Columbus soon, but can't see him going on a non CC station.

Just a thought...WUCO? Can the signal get bigger? Hmmmmm?

Help me out here...what is LAMPO?

That's short for The LAMPO Group, Dave Ramsey's in-house syndication company.

While LAMPO wasn't the first call I received, I am aware that the Dave Ramsey show will be on 1230. From what I understand, it won't be all live delivery.

Oh...okay...thanks (now the Salem comment makes sense).

It will be nice to have Ramsey on a station that at least covers Columbus. So from what I read here it sounds like Ingraham, Ramsey and Doyle. Do we know anything else?

I happen to be a fan of their nostalgic format (which, by the way, I can only get east of I-675). Why would they change? Like the old saying goes, if it ain't broke ...

what would you think about Savage and (yes I said AND Glenn Beck) anchoring your talk station in columbus??

Well with Savage, Ramsey, Ingraham, and Rome on 1230 as of 1/9/07...what is left for a station to pick up besides Beck? Clear Channel tied up all the other good syndicates out there except for Beck. There's not a whole lot out there now to build a station around Glenn Beck.
