Another B/EZ station is streaming

Easy is an EXCELLENT B/EZ station. They use Jones Radio's "Easy Mix" format. Our format, at WZRU, is very similar to what Easy is doing. I am happy to know they are streaming. Now, I can bring Myrtle Beach home with me!!

Another B/EZ station is streaming: Easy 105.9 WEZV in Myrtle
> Beach, South Carolina.

Thanks for the information about the streaming! Sounds good - there'e always a "on vacation" feel to listening to an easy listening station from a vacation destination, and there aren't many left!

WZRU stream update.

WZRU's streaming should be up by July 1! www.wzru.org.

Thanks for the tip, Ivan. The station sounds very good. A very 21st century version of B/EZ!

It's impressive that they have so many local advertisers on the air. Clearly there's an effective and focused local sales effort. Who says this format can't be sold?

I notice that this station (which simulcasts on 2 dial positions), is the only radio property operated by this owner. So, ALL of their sales effort is put into this station. Congrats to WEZV for making it happen!

Yep! They are a locally-owned and managed station. ALL the big theatres and tourist attractions in MYB advertise on Easy. Their advertising style is very low-key and classy and it works. It goes to show that we don't have to scream at our listeners, make obsurd promises, and say obsurd things to advertise a business or product. Check our their ratings!!

INDEED! A REAL full-fledged COMMERCIAL easy-listening station! In the year 2005! Somebody call Clear Channel, Infinity and Entercom and tell them that THIS is the wave of the future! In these stressed-out times, the relaxing B/EZ format CAN be a money-maker (at least it seems to be happening in Myrtle Beach).

Come out here to the Pacific Northwest and do a similar station... the market is wide open here!

Agreed. It's too bad the "Big Boys" of commercial radio are so fixated on demographics and instant profit that they don't stop long enough to consider formats like easy listening. It would be great if B/EZ became a fixture on radio dials nationwide again, just like back in the 1970's and early 80's, but it's highly unlikely at this point. Maybe it could find a home on LPFM, if the Community Radio Act of 2005 passes.
Edited by radionut987 on 06/12/05 03:30 AM.

I just got back from Myrtle Beach.

Every once in a while WEZV is relaxing, but there's too much uptempo music for my taste. Unless I'm in the mood for uptempo.

Unfortunately, the cable channel with the Wanted Criminals never aired that show (at least when I tried) and I
couldn't listen to my REAL easy listening music.

Plus I can't stand Kelli Dixon.

It's not that I have to have a guy DJ, but what ever happened to the morning host from WJXY who was on in 1996?

I think I got my answer elsewhere on these boards.

I can't believe I just heard Kelli Dixon. I can't STAND that voice!
