Another budget cut -- John Summers

One of the best guys in the business, he was he was the PM drive guy at WMMO in Orlando when I lived there in the early 90's.

You might also know him as Alfred E Newman from B94.

Is this the same John Summers who was with "3WS" and WPNT ("The Point") during the early and mid 80s'? Sometimes I listen to KAAM (Garland-Dallas) on line. Chuck Brinkman is still there. Although, he now does only a few hours a week on Saturdays. People on the Dallas Board, told me he (Chuck) was really great during his prime. Getting back to Mr. Summers for a second, I thought his name was spelled Jon Somers, maybe this is a different Mr. Summers/Somers?

Thanks,
Stuart

There was a Jon Summers who worked at KQV, WTAE and maybe The Point. He was from Buffalo and I think he's back there now. His real last name was Santini.

I worked for Chuck at Y97 in the 80s and almost fell over the first time I heard him on KLUV... he sounded a lot closer to his KQV days than he had for quite some time. He left CBS a couple of years ago and has had some health issues recently, most recently having worked at a small MOYL in the DFW area.

And as mentioned in the post above yours, this John Summers was Alfred E. Newman in Pittsburgh, I believe he has also been known as John Randall.

I spoke with Chuck today and he told me he'd be on the air Saturday night at 6P, 5 Eastern on KAAM, and yes, they do stream.
On the other subject, being cut like that after 14+ years is certainly a gut punch. Friends of mine told me that it would take a few weeks to 'get your legs back'. And, they're right. I haven't landed anywhere yet, but I can tell you that it's really tight out there. I wonder if Alcasan is hiring. (lol).....
