Another Canadian AM Will Sign Off For Good VERY Soon

CKLQ 880's certificate expires August 31st and with nearly $350,000 in fencing and tower work needing to be done combined with yearly costs, keeping the AM going as a rebroadcast transmitter of 100kw/630 meter CKLQ 91.5 doesnt make sense.

Large Manitoba AM Station to Shut Down

I’m surprised they kept the AM signal going for eight years after the FM signed on. Usually Canadian stations kill the AM ASAP.
because usually the AM is an entirely seperate station..... but the AM, unusually, was considered a rebroadcaster of the FM
