ANOTHER CASUALTY AT 100.5 THE ZONE

There's more rumblings at troubled "name that format" 100.5 THE ZONE (KZZO). Weeks after the staff quit on PD Max Miller without ever leaving the building -- which resulted in Miller leaving the building -- comes word that midday host "Rosie" has been shown the door by the bosses...whoever they may be.

Sucks for Rosie, who's a very nice, very bright guy; very popular with the crew; and, while not on top of the ratings heap, not exactly stinking up the place.

No replacement -- or reason -- announced.

Boy, talk about a station that no one seems to talk about... or listen to.

Would seem to me that this would be ripe for a format change...

CHR... maybe Z-100... or maybe another Free-FM?

That Rosie guy was good! great voice, good sense of humor. Somebody...anybody...get rid of Byron Kennedy! I was told Byron Kennedy has been around ever since Bob West was shown the door at KSFM. Bob West was funny.

I agree - Rosie was great... one of the only "highlights" on the Zone. Anyone know what happened or more importantly how he's doing?

Rosie was the best talent on The Zone, sucks that he is gone from there and it could be just another forshaddow of The Zone going bye bye.

From what I have heard, the reason why he was asked to go was because of misrepresenting CBS at The Zone's St. Patrick's Day promotion. Though I am not 100% sure, I have heard things about him talking about drinking on the air, and then getting too plastered at the event that he slurred his breaks. For a station that is the transition station for KWOD listeners as they become Mix 96 listeners, that is a bad thing to do on The Zone.

I can understand how, if that were the case, CBS would be "unhappy" about his representation of the station. However, I would hope they'd also take the following into account:

1) Rosie IS the best (dare I say "only") talent they have/had on the Zone.

2) Only a handful of people in respect to the general Sacramento population probably witnessed the alleged behavior and I doubt it was something they cared about or remembered the next day.

3) Of those people listening to the Zone that day (few as they may be), probably only 5%, if that, were actually paying attention to the call-ins, as most people consider those commercials and tune them out.

Yes, the alleged behavior was wrong but it seems CBS could've handed down a suspension instead of handing over his walking papers. The Zone is now going to be 97% intolerable to listen to - I still don't mind Shawn Cash so much. Very sad.

Also sad - they had commercials with Rosie all over the air this week (Park Utra, etc) and last I checked he's still on the website. No wonder the Zone is in a shambles. Neither CBS or local management pays any attention to its employees or the station.

Uh, KWOD listeners transitioned to XM listeners years ago.

Um...Sirius is a piece of crud. I assume XM is basically the same. We purchased Sirius and were UNDERWHELMED with the programming. It sounds muddy. I kept flipping the channels to hear something...ANYTHING...worth listening to. Not much there. I was very surprised at how much Sirius sucked. Very disappointed.

Sirius runs their alt music rotations like broadcast radio... 55-60 spins/week for powers. The same crap that chased people away from radio in the first place. XM seems to get it a little better... sound is good too. The Inno mp3 recorder/XM radio is the best gadget in years. Would you like the product? I have no idea, but I dig it and spend hours with XM every day.
