Another CBS Surprise

CBS announces they are broadcasting HD channels for several radio stations, including the Buffalo properties.

I tell ya, they're gonna need new doors at the Rand building... from people breaking them down to buy the stations!

Thoughts on HD???

Since you asked - three words: Remember AM Stereo?

HD is a technology in search of a reason to exist. Why pay all that money to hear highly compressed audio? You can do that yourself with a $150 iPod Nano.

And the fact that cheap HD radios still aren't available doesn't help things.

HD, a half-assed proposition which might also be titled "how to destroy your main channel and product in one fell swoop." As if legions of listeners are clamoring for it. They're not. AM Stereo, redux... or maybe FM Quad, revisited.[/Mike]

What CBS should also do is stream the stations over the net...Buffalo is one of the last cities not to offer CBS streaming.
