You wouldn't feel bad if you knew the guy, or what he's done. I feel bad to those who kissed his rear to try and get ahead; now they're out of luck. Ok, I don't feel bad.
There is, however, a greater evil that lurks on Laird. Good luck to the person who takes that job and all those who work there. I've never seen so much turnover in such an insignificant market. With Kidd Kraddick fully established now, the new morning show better have some other qualities than "I sound really good on the air". I wonder if they put van washing in the contracts now???
Why don't they just hire some illegals? I heard they'll be granted amnesty soon.
Warning to those on Laird... It can and will happen to you when the time is right.

I'm not going to pretend that I know what happened in Panama City with Jo, but I will tell you that while I worked for him in Ft Walton Beach/Destin at Fly 92-1, he was a great guy. Not only that but he launched Fly from the ground up and did a damn good job at it. We had an excellent airstaff that honestly was so good, we all were able to get bigger market gigs in less than a year. (Morning guy Kaane went to Corpus Christi FT and PT in San Antonio, afternoon guy/APD Holmes (me) went to Grand Rapids FT and PT in Toledo and Detroit and night guy Dylan Paul went to Memphis, Tulsa and now Milwaukee). Since then Fly has taken over as the CHR leader in that market from the foundation we built.
While Jo may not have been the best talent on the radio, Jo knows good radio and recognizes good talent. I'm sure that situations in Panama City tied his hands that may made him appear to be a bad guy which happens to PD's ALL THE TIME. And all of you can flame me all you want, but I've worked at big stations like WFLZ/Tampa, WFLA/Tampa & WKQI/Detroit as well as worked on Island 106 and even programmed 97X (1997). I've seen good guys, bad guys and dumb asses, and Jo is a good guy. Jo needs a situation where he can be left alone to program while not having to worry about doing anything on air.
I am just like him and was finally given the chance to do what I do without those above me telling me what to do. I win every book now. He can do the same if left alone.
