Another channel missing from Time Warner Rochester

I noticed that Oxygen is now missing from ch 70 on the standard tier. I did read recently they were going to remove the channel from the standard tier in Syracuse because of low viewership. So I am not surprised that it disappeared in Rochester as well. Now, I have to say I never watched the channel, except maybe a Roseanne episode here & there, which is certainly available elsewhere all over the dial, but the fact as as of now they have not replaced it with anything else. Are they going to replace the channel with something more watchable? My first guess is no. They probably want the bandwidth for something else. For us dinosaurs who refuse to switch over to the digital tier and pay them an extra $15 a month for 500 channels we don't want, this is totally a ripoff. We pay the same monthly amount (or more)for a dwindling amount of product. I am still P. O. about removing the PLEX Channel. Not only did I like that channel they still haven't replaced it and all there is on channel 55 a year later is snow. -and don't get me started on channels 5 & 6.
I am not able to switch over to Dish or Direct, but if I could, I would in a flash.

I do have digital cable and I understand your frustration. It's very upsetting to see the same programs featured on Channels 1-70 also featured on Channels 300-400. This is nothing but repetition on the part of Time Warner cable and you're right, a "rip-off" to consumers.

Yet I won't sign a two year contract with Dish or Direct TV either. Their service, I've been told from friends who are also subscribers, is horrible.

So either we deal with the one cable company, the two satellite services, or just have over-the-air TV, which some broadcasters and their lobbyists are trying to eliminate.

Maybe a good book is the answer.

Like it or not, analog cable will be a thing of the past soon...2012 for Time Warner, from what I'm hearing.

For now, at least, TWC is still rather behind the curve on the transition. The 60-some analog channels still on the system are a lot more than analog-only customers now receive in a lot of Comcast areas, for instance.

Those "unused" channels on 5 and 55 and 56 and now 70 aren't really empty, after all - the "static" is the digital data that's bringing an increasing number of HD channels to digital customers...and as an HD customer, I can't say that I mind that one bit. ;)
