Another Christian FM For New York

If we bring Vida Unida to 93.5 FM, then it will be the first time ever to have Spanish CCM here in NYC and I could listen back to back CCM with:

95.5 K-Love (English) (6AM-3PM)
93.5 Vida Unida (Spanish) (3PM-12AM)

And WVIP will change call letters as WVUN (W Vida UNida).

Maybe get outside and take a walk. 18 hours of CCM daily can cause real brain damage.

It probably helps that Christianity in all of its forms (including LDS, which some denominations here brand as heresy) is much more dominant in Latin America than in the United States, with its many religious minorities and significant numbers of atheists and agnostics. I have a feeling there's no significant objection to Christian radio -- either music or spoken-word evangelism -- in Latin America comparable to what we see here in RadioDiscussions.
I don’t believe in the LDS churches teachings. People in that church really should be able to think for themselves and look up information about the church and decide if they want to leave. Unfortunately, that church doesn’t allow non-LDS sources so that people won’t find out the truth about this church.

I think that may make sense, instead of trying to compete with K-Love.
The Seattle-Tacoma area has a Spanish-Christian station called LaFamilia on 93.7 but the tower isn’t located near most of the other stations that work there so it also works in the Olympics area in certain places.

New Calls requested for WVIP, WNVU
I see on the F.C.C. application that the callsign change is requested to take effect Sept. 1. So perhaps that is the day Hope Media intends to take control of 93.5 FM, and switch the programming to Vida Unida.
As the station will have a non-commercial license, would it be legal for it to continue airing the 3 current HD subchannels, which have commercials?

We blame ourselves for not finding out that the station was up for sale before the owner passed on. There were many people before Hope Media who were willing to buy the station and keep it Caribbean Formatted.

As expected, WVIP shut down at midnight, just after playing a song called, “That’s All,” by cabaret singer Norm Drubner.
After a minute of silence, there was an ID for WNVU. Stating that the station is under construction, it is now airing brief samples of the music they will be playing, once they begin carrying the Vida Unida network. Lots of lively sounding contemporary religious songs in various genres of Latin music.
No HD signal, at this time.

Sad. WVIP was an odd station with it's brokered programming but it's Caribbean programming/voice filled a need for the Caribbean community mostly of West Indian decent. There are numerous west indian pirates however, some sounding better than WVIP did but of course a pirate can be here today and gone tomorrow.
