Another Citadel proposal would affect Charleston

With Citadel filing a proposal to move 107.5 WNKT to the Columbia market already known on this board I decided to report a new application that was just filed to change WMGL. Citadel desires to move WMGL to 107.3 so they can improve Charleston coverage.

WMGL will be sold as part of the ABC merger. That application will make the stick more attractive to a potential buyer and that buyer will be? Apex? Kirkman? Lynn Martin? Daniels? New player? How much money you got?

Sounds interesting...

And I suppose in the distant future (like 5+ years) somebody could get a new alotment on 101.7 for the Charleston area. Isle of Palms seems to be an area with no "local" aural service ;D

Radio-X

With the Columbia move-in, Citadel will not have to sell WMGL after all. They only had to get rid of one station and just put WMGL in that trust to show intent. But if the move-in happens, they keep WMGL and increase its signal too.

The expense of operating that many sticks is killing the cluster. They need to downsize. WTMA's operating expense alone is killing them softly. If there was a stick they should spin, it's that one. It's difficult to determine which is a bigger waste of skin Rocky or that terrible Richard Todd Morning show. Is there anyone in Charleston besides Mike Edwards that actually listens to either one and claims compelling content? I love radio in the lowcountry, it reminds me of the movie Deliverance in more ways than one. What's that smell?
