I was on the Peoria, IL SDR last night at around 9PM CDT checking 1170 following up on a previous thread to see if WDEK from South Caroliuena would be there. What I heard was Scott Shannon's "True Oldies Channel" with a (mostly) good signal. but after a half hour, no positive ID. So....this morning at about an hour before sunrise, I tried 1170 on my SRF-37 to see if Shannon and the "Mystery oldies station" would be audible here.
It was. Weak, but I did get a couple of positive IDs. It turned out to be WFDL from Waupun, WI. 1kw non-directional daytimer with an FM translator.
1170 is relatively empty in this part of the country at night, so despite the weak signal, there isn't much to bloc itl. Could be an opportunity if some of you guys may want to give it a try.
