Okay, so todays news segment begins with them breaking their arms patting themselves on the backs for being number one with men. A direct quote from Gerry "We only care about men" speaking in terms of their demographic. Then they went on for a few minutes wondering how big ther bonsus will be.

Just like I wish it on Barry Bonds, I can't wait for the day something happens and their world comes crashing in on them.

kinda harsh. they're our favorite morning entertainers is all they are. But you could put on the Today show.

From the current edition of Molori Media.......

Where’s Wolfe?

On July 17, AM 680 WRKO host John DePetro called deposed Big Dig chief Matt Amorello “*** Matt.” DePetro explained that he was not calling Amorello a homosexual, but was saying that Amorello’s wife calls the shots in the household.

Because he used this derogatory, anti-gay language, DePetro was justifiably suspended by WRKO programming chief Jason Wolfe for two days. Wolfe told the Boston Globe, “This corporation has zero tolerance for racial intolerance.”

Interesting. Just ten days later, WEEI morning host Gerry Callahan, in an exchange with two callers regarding singer Lance Bass’s revelation that he is gay, muttered words that, in my view, were just as insulting to homosexuals as those uttered by DePetro.

When a caller said that discussing homosexuality on the radio might be inappropriate, Callahan inferred that the caller should be more upset that some schools systems are teaching kids that “Heather has two mommies.”

Callahan is implying that educating students about homosexuality is somehow wrong. Is it more wrong to have kids grow up ignorant to its existence and therefore have silly fears about it?

Cohost John Dennis told the caller that “the whole country is telling us (homosexuality) is OK. It’s in vogue.” Callahan responded, “We’ve got a couple of weeks off. I’m thinking of giving it a shot.”

A second caller said that Callahan makes homosexuality seem like a disease and that Callahan “has a severe bias against alternative lifestyles.” When the caller said that Callahan feels that homosexuality is unnatural, Callahan responded, “Of course, it’s unnatural.”

I am almost bored with pointing out Callahan’s consistent prejudice and WEEI always seems to deflect any criticism with semantic sidestepping. I am not a homosexual, so maybe my opinion is irrelevant, but it seems to me that calling someone’s lifestyle unnatural is just as bad as using some tired old slur as DePetro did. Who is Callahan to say what is natural? Isn’t that up to each individual?

WEEI and Wolfe are angling for a Marconi Award which takes into account a station's community service. WEEI deserves credit for its recent Jimmy Fund Radiothon, but is this type of on-air social prejudice community service? I hope the Marconi voters take note.

Moreover, I wonder why king moralist Jason Wolfe took no action against Callahan’s anti-gay comments as he did against DePetro’s? Come on Jason, is it really zero tolerance, or is it just zero tolerance for a less popular host like DePetro as opposed to the highly rated Callahan? Just wondering.

That would be the difference between ‘name calling’ and an opinion. Callahan was stating his opinion, right or wrong, about homosexuals; DePitro was hurling an insult with little thought to back it up

Not really Lucy...see I am not a fan of Eminen. His personaility, his music (ok I admit, I do like Without Me LOL) but seriously, the way he carries himself, and 99.9 percent of his music. That's my opinion. Doesn't mean he is a bad person, doesn't mean he's a bad artist. But if I were to get on a public forum and start making fun of him, bashing him, ridiculing him, and saying his music unnatural, etc. That would be name calling and could be construde as name calling/hate speech.

Callahan has a right to his opinion, even if it differs from mine. But IMO he DOES NOT have the right to get on air and start bashing me or people like me for no reason.

But there is no one else like you Weee. You are a strong and unique individual. You need not fear the opinions of other. No truely free society would.

I know what ya mean, and actually very nicely said :) But it's just so annoyiing when someone is allowd to spew stuff like that with no repercussions, you know?

I once heard Callahan use invective about gay people.. he called them "perverts" on the air. One of many reasons I stopped listening to that show well over a year ago.. almost immediately after I heard that. Thankfully, there's sports talk on 1510... it's interesting... I listened to WIP in Philly quite a bit... the hours start around 3 after, they have traffic and weather and they stay on-topic...

Lucy Lu is the biggest gay basher in this forum. That being said, Mike Timlin is anti-gay, so the karma is reaching out to all fans of Dennis & Callahan. Weee - be careful of Lucy Lu, she's a two faced back-stabber! (EDIT, TRUTHFUL INFLAMMATORY & TO THE POINT)

More racism/homophobia from the Dynamic Duo.

During their news segment today (yup, news on a SPORTS station)

Anyhoo, Gerry first says he ran into "a guy" while shopping and "this guy" proceeds to tell Gerry that he lives above Grace Ross and she is a slob who holds a ton of wild parties with a bunch of lesbian tree huggers and whale savers. So what does Gerry do? He takes the world of some (alleged) guy on the street and spreads it on the air. Typical.

Another typical thing, while talking about Deval Patrick, they kept on playing the Beverly Hills Cop clip "Ain't gonna fall for no banana in the tailpipe".

WEEI and D&C push that envelope mighty close to the edge. I'd say their comments are more dangerous to the public's ears than the sexual banter that Howard Stern put on the air.

If it offends you, don't listen, or are you one of those superheroes that have to protect everyone else from the evils of free speech as well? Self-Righteous Man, able to leap tall buildings (and to conclusions) in a single bound, with his trusty sidekick, Knee-jerk Boy. Saving American’s from themselves for over a decade.

I usually don't listen to 'em. I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy about those who wanted to silence Stern. I agree, if you don't like it, don't listen. I just don't want anyone telling me what I can and cannot listen to.

I'm constantly perplexed by those who think they know what's best for us to listen to, watch, read, etc. As long as it doesn't break a law that's on the books, like making threats against a president or whatever, then i say let it air.

Whether i agree or not with the content, that's something else. But squelching something just because we don't like it is wrong, ugly and evil.
