ANOTHER Entercom Boston fiasco!!

From All Access:

"ENTERCOM's BOSTON cluster has another talent crisis on its hands, with Sports WEEI-A yanking morning team JOHN DENNIS and GERRY CALLAHAN off the air indefinitely in a lockout ties to contract problems with the pair.

JOHN DENNIS told the BOSTON HERALD, "For me to be locked out on the week that we do the JIMMY FUND Radiothon breaks my heart. It’s the most important thing we do all year long." The station's spokesman GEORGE REGAN told the paper that the pair were merely being given a vacation, adding "It’s a great time for a vacation, and it’s a great time to walk the beaches of CAPE COD to relax, reflect and think."

DENNIS and GERRY CALLAHAN's contracts expire in SEPTEMBER; the situation follows ENTERCON's trading of lawsuits with WRKO-A/BOSTON afternoon host HOWIE CARR, who is seeking to jump to GREATER MEDIA rival WTKK. "

You know, as a former station owner and General Manager, I wanted to give the management at Entercom Boston the benefit of the doubt in the Howie incident...

BUT now I know they are simply a bunch of F***UPs! And...can you believe George Regan's IDIOTIC quote? The GM there needs to put a CORK in that guy's slobbering mouth!

Do they have a death wish? It's bad enough that they screw around with WRKO (throwing it into in the toilet in the process), but now they're destroying their cash cow, WEEI!

What a herd of morons!

Let's start a thread...

I know...
Let's help Entercom Boston out! Let's start a thread on OTHER ways they can SCREW UP! After all, they seem to WANT to do so...they work HARD at it!

So, let's give them a hand!

Point Number One: When did anyone in management in ANY company care about the vacation time of ANY employee? "...it's a great time to walk the beaches of Cape Cod to relax, reflect, and think." What an absolute crock. Yeah, it may well be a 'great time' to do all that stuff, but management's line is that there NEVER is a good time for ANY vacation (except theirs).

Here's another crock, from Sir Dennis, King of Failed TV Sportscasters: "For me to be locked out on the week that we do the Jimmy Fund Radiothon breaks my heart." Boo-hoo...All I really want to do is go home to Kansas...Boo-Hoo. Point Number Two: Now, where did I put my violin???

Laughable, from both ends of this Entercom donkey.

". . . Our gut feeling as of Sunday night at 11:48 p.m. when we write this? D&C are gone from 'EEI and Wolfe is left trying to explain to his bosses why he has now lost three of Boston's most influential voices (Howie, Dennis and Callahan) in the course of one miserable summer."

Replaced By ...........

I got it !!! Dennis and Callahan, the two Hibernian bigots, will be replaced by............ The Metco Gorrilla.

Seems like an even exchange although there will be a significant increase in the IQ behind the mic.

Wolffe has always seemed beyond reproach. Any discussion I ever had with him, either in person at events or via e-mail, always ended with a reflection on how wonderful the ratings for his station are/were. The constant patting on the back got old very quickly. It was his failsafe for when anyone questioned anything at his station. This could not happen to a nicer guy.

Yeah, we're all buying EEIs explanation especially since Callahan really needed a vacation after four months of being off the air. What a bush league outfit.

are callahan and dennis conjoined at their hands ands brains? do they both have to accept the contract terms at the same time and then sign the papers together? ::)
