Another example of our declining morals

Some bimbo newscaster is doing an interactive story where she is asking female viewers to take a survey to determine which desperate housewife they are. This is absoultely wrong and morally reprehensible! I pity the poor 78 year old ladies in the nursing homes who are subjected to this garbage. Also, the kids. What does mommy tell joey when he asks what type of desperate housewife are you mommy? Shame on you Channel 6!

You don't really think it's as bas as all that, do you?!

People treat Christians like crap and compare them to "Hitler Youth" all the time....why not a survey such as what was done here? Face it, the Liberals are running (ruining) the country to where pedophiles will soon be more acceptable than carrying around a Bible. Let's see how truly far this crackers world of ours can get!<P ID="signature">______________

What does that have to do with ANYTHING in the posted question. If you really believe ANY ONE serious liberal or conservative compares a mainline Christian church to anything sponsored by Hitler, you need to do some serious thinking for yourself. This is not so. And I challange you to find some back up for that statement. There are far out groups but they are in the minority.

No liberal group supports pediofiles anymore than any mainline church group is Hitlerlike. Any attempt to group them together under a liberal banner is simply wrong.

Getting back to the original question, I feel THE NEWS should be the STAR of the news not fluff. But it is getting harder and harder to find any news show that isn't all about fluff.

In Chicago both Mark Suppelsa and Walter Jacobson (oddly enough with Fox 32) have publicly said that too often it is "the ratings" not the importance of the news story, that dictate what will be covered.

And that is sad. But as the saying goes.. "Sorry there's money to be had."<P ID="signature">______________

Of course it's political. LOL. You really are unbelievably stupid sometimes.

Just trying to poison this board the way he's been poisioning the Philly Radio board since the 1990's. The assertion that "liberals are running the country" was pretty hilarious. In what country does he live? Because Karl Rove is running this one. And last time I checked, he was a Christian conservative Republican!

It really just boils down to cross-promotion. It might be a head-scratcher if "Housewives" was on another network but it's not...so this is really quite easy to understand. "Action News" has a sense of humor and knows how to lighten things up a bit so they simply used this gimmick as a feature story that happens to promote one of ABC's series. I actually don't see the big deal.

Its called smart marketing

"Some bimbo newscaster..."

Where is the morality in that statement? What did she do to you?

Desperate Housewives is a very high rated show on abc. 6 ABC is trying to get fans of the show to tune into their news program that may not normally watch WPVI by doing a cross promotion. I am not a DH-wives fan, but I do not see the moral harm in promoting a show on the same network. It's not like they are doing a quiz to see whether you are more like Hitler, or David Duke!

I don't know any of the "Housewives", but lighten up a little, take the quiz, see if their is a whiny one! ;)

So, you two in your close minded world have failed to realise that this was a METAPHOR comparing pedophiles, blah blah blah. However, the best example of what I was trying to come up with is the ACLU's constant attack on all things religious. When' the last time you tweo knuckleheads saw a CHRISTmas display? No, any mention of Christ is not to be spoken. Why do you think most people now say "Happy Holidays"? Its because the liberals have shunned any mention of Christianity and banished it, saying a mere mention of God or Jesus is akin to pushing one's religious beliefs upon others.

Bringing it back to media...the fact that Channel 6 would glorify a Godless society by asking common rubes what Desperate Housewife they resemble only backs me up. Of course, you two aren't going to see it my way since I do not share your ideologies...which is fine, after all, that is what America is based on....free speech/thought/etc.

So, don't go off half-COCKed (Hi, Boss97) about something when you don't know where the person was TRULY coming from. My point was if they are going to strip away Christmas, what's next? Who's to stop them from brainwashing the minions into believing the pablum that they spoonfeed them?<P ID="signature">______________

Re: talk about not getting the point

You have a lot of nerve calling other people closed-minded. Your metaphor was idiotic which is why no one gets it. And your depiction of the ACLU's attack on all things religious is a clear indication of how closed-minded you are. If the conservatives weren't trying to ram their God down everyone else's throats, you probably never would have heard of the ACLU. They're just trying to push back for all of those who don't need anyone's religion forced into places it doesn't belong.

People say "Happy Holidays" because it's considerate to those who don't celebrate Christmas! Of course you and others of your ilk choose to think it has something to do with politics. Typical.

The channel 6 feature was cross-promotion, as I've already said. It was nothing more and nothing less--and it certainly doesn't back up your idiotic assertion.

Look: No one's stripping away Christmas and no one is more responsible for brainwashing and spoon-feeding than the Christian conservatives you seem to be fighting for. I mean, give me a ****in break!

I would never, ever tell you or anyone to stop enjoying your religion--regardless of how backwards it may be. If it makes a person happy or fulfills them in some way, I think that is great for them. When they try to force it in my face or when they start using it to try to change things that have nothing to do with religion, that is where I'll step forward and smack 'em down. Sorry if you don't like that...and if it makes you say even more stupid things like "half-COCKed." (Good one, Beavis.)

Did anyone take away your ability to say "Merry Christmas?" Doubtful. I use "Happy holidays" in many cases because I know many people who don't celebrate Christmas, and I'm being respectful to them. To those who do celebrate Christmas, I would nearly always use a Christmas greeting...and I'm in the church pews every Sunday. "Happy holidays" is a way of being more inclusive, not excluding someone.

Is that free speech unless it's about "happy holidays?"

If you're free to celebrate Christmas, as I am, nothing is being stripped away.

Again, my point is that the lawyers are stripping away any decency/innocence/morality, and the mainstream (liberally-controlled) media is in lock step with them. It needs to be all-inclusive, which is fine....BUT! We all got along with Merry Christmas for MANY YEARS until the lawyers came in and decided this was exclusionary. I don't see how a nativity scene, featuring Baby Jesus, is so offensive to some....so offensive that these displays have been repeatedly removed. <P ID="signature">______________

*sigh* If he brings this back to the "rock vs. dance" argument, I'm gonna reach through this screen and throttle him!

OK, so it's fine to celebrate Ramadan, Channukah and Qwanzaa...but CHRISTMAS is verboten? I'm close-minded? This coming from someone who has advocated BANNING those who disagree with your ideologies? Sorry, you ain't gonna get away with this one.

How does MY statement mean I am "ramming MY GOD down" anyone's throat? I know why...because I identify myself as a Republican and you HATE us! HAAAAAAAAAATE US!!!

So, if the ACLU were TRULY for EVRYONE'S religion....WOULDN'T THAT INCLUDE CHRISTIANITY AS WELL???

Again, show me where I said everyone should like my religion? You're just going off on one of your tirades, hate-filled at that, just to try and make yourself look better. But, FOX NEWS ALERT: It ain't working.

And, funny....why does it seem the ACLU backs mostly Democrats?

And poor cross-promotion! You obviously like DH, I don't!

So, if I were to post the word GOD in every other post, that equates to me forcing my religion upon others on the board? Oh, and nice little pottymouth....I suppose another name change for you is on the way.

OK, so, to you, Christianity is backwards? Because we don't think like you, is that what you're saying?

I see plenty of nativity scenes all over the Delaware Valley. However, they're on private property--and that's the key. It isn't the place of any government body to promote a religion, and I don't care if it's Christianity, Islam, Judiasm, Hindu or what have you. No argument that the Establishment Clause was ignored for generations, but that doesn't mean starting to respect it NOW, even if it necessitates court challenges to achieve it, is "stripping away" something.

As for the obsession with merry Christmas, who says you can't say it? Last time I walked into Hallmark, there were plenty of cards that said just that, peacefully co-existing with "happy holiday" cards.

Next question: what, exactly, makes YOUR standard of decency the standard by which everything should be judged? And what makes you think that if someone else's standards are different that they're immoral? Or are you saying that the dreaded lawyers are daring to challenge the status quo as you want it to remain?

I happen to be a very moral person, with very strong convictions...and after worshipping on Sunday mornings, I get a big laugh out of Desperate Housewives. Must make me the ultimate example of moral decay in our country.

Re: talk about not getting the point

Talk about taking oneself too seriously! I hope everyone else gets the irony in every thing you just said here. Talk about projecting!

Love the complete fiction about how I feel about things and, again, the politics where it doesn't belong. Same old, same old from good old Rockin' Rob. What a surprise. Keep on making (BLEEP) up, dude. Whatever gets you through the night.

PS- I don't remember ever saying that you should be banned and I certainly would never suggest banning people because they're Republicans. But if you do ever get banned--and I am crossing my fingers now--I would hope it'd be because you start arguments and bring politics or "rock vs. dance" (as you've done here, once again) into every topic. Bye.

You can only agree to disagree to a point and just allow it to degenerate to two dullards patting each other on the back "yeah, you sure told that Republican" and the other one going "yeah, too bad we can't have him banned since he doesn't subscribe to our beliefs".

I think that was one of the forgotten Biblical plagues...the raining down of dance upon all the land. And Moses said unto them, "Let my people ROCK."
