Another great station bites the dust..

I have posted this here because I think this station would do great in Miami. And it has been on the air for 7 year, with the same staff, top 10 ratings, and great billing. I urge you to check out the website and the live stream (It ends at midnight). Even drop the staff a E-mail and say great station. I think if the Original MEGA 103 in Miami would of done this it would of been a winner.

From post:
I listend to Mojo streaming on the net, gotta say it sounds good. Jocks sound alive and actually sound like they are talking to you (NO LINER CARDS). The whole staff talks and works like a team. After seven years at the top!!! I wish all the folks good luck and great success. HINT: Stations in the area might want to want to study this IE: Pick up the music and the jocks, screw the intellectual property, they can keep it You can have the name for 5 Million Dollars. A article in a major radio publication just surfaced that a FCC report and study on local radio was trashed and that a senator has demanded a investigation, the FCC commissioner claimed he never saw it. The reason he never saw it is because if it would only prove that pubic is tired of hearing syndicated, boring radio!!!
Even if you didn't like the format, MOJO was a good example of how to do radio

From the MOJO website:

To our Mojo 94-9 listeners,
Thank you. We've had a great seven and a half year run and it was all the Mojo listeners that made every day at the radio station so much fun. We hope you enjoyed what you heard as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you.

We appreciate you letting us into your homes, your cars, your workplaces and any where you may have had your Mojo workin'.

As you probably have heard, Mojo 94-9 is moving to 100.3FM as of Thursday, September 21st. We wish all the best to the new owners of the Mojo name. So until then, enjoy the last couple days of Cincinnati's Jammin' Oldies.

All of us who have worked on the air at Mojo 94-9 will never forget the experience.

Sincerely,

Keith Mitchell, Mojo 94-9 Program Director

This sounds quite plausible, but I'd like more info. What publication? Which senator? Any links? ???

Yeah... considering that the original posting had nothing to do with Florida,
except the lame "I think this station would do great in Miami"... I'd like to
find out more about this report, too.

And yes my comments about MOJO had everything to do with this board, and every other board. If you don't think so then why do you (and me) bring up so many posts about the good ol' days so much...answer..because there is nothing to talk about current..Let's see we could talk about all the syndicated morning shows, the voice tracked shows from Tampa & all points beyond. The contest that is looking for the 100th nationwide caller, hmmm get my drift....This station had none of that..Miami was (any almost every other market) didn't have all of that. How many stations would write have their staff write a final farewell letter if it happned in Miami...None there wouldn't be enounh on air staff to sign the letter. I guess they could do it via voicetrack ;D

Thank you. If there isn't a thread about that on the coast-to-coast board, there should be.

Yes... That was the point I was going to make. If it "everything to do with this board, and every other board" it belongs on the national board, not on all the others.

There is plenty of current stuff to talk about in this market.

And if some old farts like to talk about Miami radio of the past, what's it to you?

If you're at a loss for ideas, turn on the radio, look at a thread from last week or last month, or look at one of the radio web sites, even mine.

Did you know that WFTL 1400 started 60 years ago this month?

Can you imagine what this board would look like if everyone who was nostalgic for WCBS-FM or WRKO or MOJO started a thread about it?

Besides, in Miami, mojo is something you eat, not listen to!

This is the friendliest board on R-I, mainly because we stay on topic.

Let's keep it that way.

Not a problem. I urge everyone to read.

I guess I should of gone further by saying. This station sort of had the feel of Y-100 and I-95 and 96 in their heyday. It was a fun station.

I love talking about south Florida Radio history. Look at my last posts. I am also was born in South Florida, worked, listened, and was grown up with it. And yes in some circles could be classified as a old fart :D

I read your website. It is quite good.

Yes South Florida is so unique with stations like. Beat, mega,Coast, Etc.

The point was to create discussion with the FCC report and using MOJO as a station for a example. Sadly, South Florida does not have a station that can set this example. My apologies.

"That's the horse of a different color you hear tell of." ... Wizard of Oz

Well, now I know why you posted it here.

It was like pulling teeth to get the info, however!!!

What do you like in our #$@%& current stations?

Radio&Records and the AP are pretty darn good sources -- I've been too busy to read the trades for a few weeks. Thanks for the links, musiconrad.

It's likely that South Florida won't have a MOJO RISING! ;D

Hey, Stuart, South Florida still believes in Majic (since 1985) Life is still beautiful (and then someone turned on the LITE to show beautiful and relaxing LYF is when the LITE is on), Love is not ROCK-y but Smooth - damn it, I'm stretching this joke too far! ;)

What a tangled web we here in Market 12 weave.

MEGA was good until it got stale. ZETA was gone years ago...RIP WSHE

Look at 99.9FM WKXB in Wilmington, NC. They were doing the Jammin Oldies, then flipped to more "oldies"-like music as B99......big listener reaction, flip back to Jammin Oldies. Which is a smaller market than Miami, but if it can happen there, you never know....

(Until the next format flip...nah.....)
