another halfway-listenable show out at 960?

First they dump Dennis Miller, now they have cancelled the Breitbart-y show with the kid whose name I forget so he must not be that well-known? I really have to wonder if they want to retain any listeners.

was that some kid named Andy DEAN?

They are advertising a "big" event with Mark Levin, Hugh Hewitt, and a couple local politicians and local radio nobodies at the Biltmore. Apparently the event is so great that Levin "the great one," will not attend in person, but will be heard by "satellite" ($25)

I must hear that promo with Hugh whozitt and Dennis Prego about 5 times an hour. (Is that because they do not have enough ads?) I can not believe that station makes money.

The joke is that Hewitt pretapes so many shows now, no callers, but he passes it off as a live show. Plus, his show is basically about his legal work defending product manufacturers, and his favorite fundamentalist born again causes.

Dreadful stuff.

As for 960...at least they aren't playing 80 day old newcasts any more...

Not true. Hugh's producer Duane (Generalisimo) Patterson does a podcast every Friday with Ed Morrisey from Hot Air. At the end of every podcast they discuss the guest from the Hugh Hewitt Show. He gives detail to recorded and pre-taped shows and interviews.

I do not listen to the Hugh Hewitt Show, but I have no reason to believe that Duane would admit when shows are taped if Hugh is trying to fool people.

I do not want to get in "of topic - take it outside territory" But he does represent manufacturers over consumers... let a jury or judge decide....nothing wrong with that. however... I never heard him take a call. I listen (drive time)

Why doesn't he and Preager do some more promos? Do we have to hear the same one over and over? What would it take to do 5 or 6 of them? I am trying to like their programming, but I think they do not care about their product. Levin can not show up? I just do not think they care about their content. It is lazy, and sloppy. Politics has nothing to do about it. Left right or center, if you do not care, then let someone else do it. (I am a big attorney, so why should I give a damm? Is that what Hewitt 's attitude is?)

I hear Hewitt take callers. and I hear him address the day's events within hours of their having occurred-which doesn't mean the show isn't taped, but I'm pretty used to delay anyway-can't listen at work. The Prager/Hewitt promo is innocuous enough that it doesn't annoy me too much-compared to some on other stations. The religion? Every body's got their own personal poison=NPR pretentiousness is as offensive to me as SRN is to others. 960 has issues no doubt, but this is Phoenix. Hewitt is an attorney first=also no doubt but that's an attorney for you. Mark Steyn is a scream and a few of the other guests are worth a listen. I also regret the loss of Dennis Miller.

Dennie Miller voice was a little muffled, so it was hard to hear him in the car sometimes. Another problem with Hewitt is that unless you are a big fan, some of his references to sports and politics are a little hard to figure out.

Yep, that's him. The show's equal parts monologue (literally), which is 92.3's m.o., and on-air listener calls (sort-of still 550's), which makes for an interesting listen. Still not sure why the show seems starts already in progress some days, on-time other days, and pre-empted for Hewitt other days. This Dean kid's show sounds like it would be more at home on 92.3 or 550. I do hope I'm not the only one curious about the show's fate in this market. 960 really doesn't have the best track record with their non-fringe programming.
